The Cangu Temple Fair is themed on the inventor of silkworm clothing, Huangdi's first wife Leizu, or Cangu, and is based on mulberry and silk culture. It is held in the numerous Cangu Temples in Leizu's hometown. It is a collective folk cultural activity initiated and formed by local people, and has become a custom in the spread of ancient and modern times. After the death of Cangu (Leizu), the people of Yanting, her hometown, held the Cangu Temple Fair on the 10th day of the second lunar month, Cangu's birthday, in the local Cangu Temple, Sigu Temple, Xiancan Temple, Leizu Temple, and Canshen Temple to commemorate Cangu's great contribution to the creation of mulberry, silkworm, silk, silk weaving, and clothing, and to open up human clothing civilization, and not forget the great grace of the mother of humanity for the benefit of future generations. The basic situation of the Cangu Temple Fair is: - offering sacrifices to Cangu, performing three offerings, offering three animals and five fruits, offering red shoes, burning high incense, lighting large candles, and worshiping devoutly before Cangu's parade. There are also groups of silkworm farmers from all over the country who go to the Cangu Temple to burn incense, worship, fulfill vows, make wishes, and pray for a good harvest of silk cocoons. Before the Cangu Temple Fair, a silkworm girl must be selected. First, the local clan leader presides over the event and selects three virgins with dignified appearance from among the many silkworm breeding experts as candidates. Then the head of the Cangu Temple chooses an auspicious day to hold the selection ceremony. After burning incense and reporting to the Cangu, the candidates each draw a lot. The one who draws the Cangu lot will be the actress of the silkworm girl, and the other two will be Cangu's attendants. The Cangu Temple Fair was founded in Yanting County, located in the north-central part of the Sichuan Basin. Mulberry planting and silkworm breeding are the pillar industries of the county people. According to folk legend, the Cangu Temple Fair activities have emerged since the ancient Yanhuang period, and gradually flourished after the Han Dynasty, and integrated commerce, buying and selling agricultural and sideline products, selling snacks, needlework, children's toys, etc. to form a folk culture form that combines the Cangu Temple Fair with the temple market. The Cangu Temple Fair has the value of mulberry silk, silk culture, female surname and mother culture. The "Exi Silk", "Dong Silk" and "Xili Silk" (Xiling Silk) produced in Yanting County since the Tang Dynasty have added luster to the Cangu Temple Fair, making it the best in history and becoming more and more prosperous.
