Datang headlights
It is said that the "Datong Lantern" began in the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty (around 1804 AD). Out of the old people's reverence for the ancient drama character Guan Yu, this form of lantern was created and performed at local temple fairs, the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first lunar month every year and other major events. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, it won the second prize in the county's lantern festival in 1952, and then it was discontinued. In May 2006, the lantern was resumed and frequently appeared in large-scale county-wide cultural and artistic activities such as the "Xiangshan Fishing Festival" and "March 3, Stepping on the Beach". The characteristics of the lantern are that the entire team consists of two sedan chairs, each with an imperial sister-in-law; five horses, riding a Guan Yu and four guards; there are also four scattered lanterns, two drivers, and seven band members, a total of about 25 people. The performance mainly depicts the story of "Guan Yu Sending the Emperor's Sister-in-law" in the drama "Romance of the Three Kingdoms": Guan Yu rides a horse, two horsemen hold the reins, and then two sedan bearers push the sedan chair carrying the Emperor's sister-in-law, and four generals escort the sedan chair, and they go through all the difficulties without hesitation. At the beginning, Guan Yu sings the reverse board, opens the city gate, and the horsemen do somersaults to lead the whole team out. Then, they sing and dance and change formations according to the plots of "scissors formation, cloud formation, four-corner formation, and reunion". The somersaults are high, the steps are well-proportioned, the singing is pleasant, and the dancing is graceful. It vividly interprets the understanding and emotion of the word "righteousness" of the old people, and is deeply welcomed by the local people. Its successor Shi Jikang is now 78 years old. He is also the organizer of the car lamp. In recent years, he has been active frequently and has a certain economic income, so the car lamp still has some vitality, but in order to protect this project, the local government has included it in the annual cultural work protection plan.
