Enamelware is classified according to the production techniques, mainly including cloisonné enamel (commonly known as cloisonne) and painted enamel (commonly known as Guangzhou enamel). Painted enamel is commonly known as "foreign porcelain" or fired porcelain. After it was introduced to China from Europe in the early 17th century, its technology was also accepted by Chinese craftsmen, and soon handicrafts with Chinese national style were produced. Guangzhou painted enamel wins with its elegance, and is good at using Western landscapes and figures and freely curling grass and foreign flowers as decorative patterns. The large-scale colored paintings of Guangzhou enamel, such as calligraphy, are elegant, simple, delicate and vivid. Zhongcai enamel is another development of Guangzhou enamel craft in recent decades. It integrates the traditional Guangzhou enamel craft into the cloisonné enamel craft, which is a combination of the two enamel crafts.
