Gaixia has a long history and profound cultural heritage. For thousands of years, the working people have created brilliant culture and art here. The "single-pole sedan chair" is one of the local cultural treasures. The so-called "single-pole sedan chair", as the name suggests, is a sedan chair made of a single pole, which is very different from ordinary sedan chairs. This sedan chair has neither a sedan chair enclosure nor two sedan poles. Instead, a simple round chair is set at the front end of the single pole for riding. During the performance, the rider covers the round chair with a robe, making the audience think that he is sitting directly on the tip of the single pole, giving people a sense of thrill. Moreover, this sedan chair is not deliberately balanced, but is controlled by a person at the other end. It rises and falls in a rhythmic manner, rising to mid-air in an instant and falling to flat dust in an instant. It is a folk dance performed while walking. The performance team is generally composed of more than ten people. Among them, there is a person sitting in the sedan chair, three yamen runners, four sedan chair bearers, and 2-4 people who operate the sedan pole. There are two protagonists in the performance: one is the one sitting in the sedan chair, named "Si Lao Ye", dressed as a county magistrate, wearing official robes and belts, black gauze boots, a long beard, a three-colored face, holding a fan in one hand and a book in the other, dancing with great pride and arrogance, like a clown; the other is the one who rings the gong to clear the way, muttering intimidating words such as "Si Lao Ye is behind, the people must all avoid it, and those who block the way will be skinned and pulled out of the tendons". The other two supporting roles are yamen runners, each holding a "silence" or "stay away" sign, following the road clearer to create an atmosphere and help clear the way. After the Han Dynasty, Gaixia was once called Xiao County, and it continued as a county town for hundreds of years, so there is a saying that the county magistrate patrolled the streets. The county magistrate's name "Si Lao Ye" is a homophone of "Dead Lao Ye", which expresses the people's love and hate. Through humorous performances and programmed dance movements, the ugly image of feudal society - corrupt officials exploiting the people and abusing their power.
