Playing with the Dragon
Dragon dance is an intangible cultural heritage of Sichuan Province. Dragon dance refers to the folk dragon dance that originated and spread in the Dragon King Temple of Ganping Village, Anle Office, Daying County, Suining City, Sichuan Province, and the surrounding areas of Zhuotongjing Town. The props of dragon dance include stone dragon king, bamboo seven-section dragon or ten-section dragon, and bamboo dragon head. When performing dragon dance, accompanied by gongs and drums of dragon dance, some artists carry the dragon king, some artists dance bamboo dragon heads, and some artists dance bamboo dragon heads, with elegant and spectacular dance postures. The artists lifted the dragon heads and danced in front of the Dragon King Temple. Some strong men brought spring water from the Dragon King Well and splashed it on the Dragon King. The main dragon dance routines are: Five Dragons Returning to Position and Flooding Dragon. Five Dragons Returning to Position: Five Dragons Returning to Position means that the dragon heads start from the center point, and they should raise their heads and nod to the east, west, south, and north respectively, and the dragon body will swing accordingly. After completing the east, west, south, and north positions, they will return to the original center point at the beginning.
