Wu Song (Zhangpu Folk Song), one of the first batch of Wu Song expansion projects in Suzhou City, and a folk literature project in the fifth batch of representative projects of Suzhou City's municipal intangible cultural heritage. Zhangpu folk songs are folk songs that are spread in Zhangpu, Kunshan, as well as Wujia, Xinlong, Jianghang, Zhaoling, and Dashi in Kunnan. They were popular during the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China. In the 1950s, the tradition of farmers singing folk songs was still popular, and most natural villages had experts in singing folk songs. A folk song collection team composed of famous musicians such as Fei Ke, Lu Xing, and Lu Qigui collected and rescued more than 150 traditional folk songs. In the early 1980s, when compiling and printing the "Collection of Chinese Folk Songs", a group of folk songs were further excavated. In 2007, the "Kunshan Folk Songs" was compiled and published. Zhangpu folk songs include labor songs, seasonal songs, place name songs, historical legend songs, 0 songs, love songs, etc. In terms of form, there are three-sentence and four-sentence songs, as well as long songs with dozens or even hundreds of sentences, especially labor songs and love songs are the most abundant. There are currently more than a dozen people who can sing Zhangpu folk songs. They sing and pass on the songs in their respective places of residence, at various traditional folk festivals, temple fairs, and at wedding and funeral ceremonies.
