The Mountain Circumambulation Meeting, also known as the Mountain Sacrifice Meeting, the Pagoda Meeting or the Diao Diao Meeting, is an important festival of the Qiang people to worship the gods of heaven, mountains and sheep, and pray for the prosperity of people and livestock, good harvests, local peace, lush forests, and harmony between man and nature. It originated from the primitive view of nature of the ancient Qiang people, reflecting the ancient Qiang people's ideas of submitting to nature, and has a history of thousands of years. The Mountain Circumambulation Meeting is held in spring and autumn every year, and its process and ceremony are very grand. During the sacrifice period, except for married women, all participants must bring wine, meat and steamed buns to the meeting, and the head of the meeting is taken turns by local residents. Duan Gong sacrifice, slaughtering sheep to sacrifice mountains, leading songs on the altar, Qiangyun leather drums, and leading songs, exchanging gifts, and giving and receiving mascots are also used to perceive the etiquette of the Qiang people. The melodious mouth harp, the powerful Salang, and the blazing bonfire will make you intoxicated by the solemn and mysterious traditional customs of "ancient Qiang mountain worship". At the same time, the Qiang people also have wonderful literary performances, costumes, and traditional sports such as "putting", "holding eggs", and "sifting bran". The Shibi classics that reflect the core connotation of Qiang culture sung by the Shibi at the mountain circumambulation meeting have become the main material and important evidence for modern people to study the development of Qiang history and culture; the epics and legends reflected in the history and culture of the Qiang people contained in the Shibi classics have high literary value. At the same time, the mountain circumambulation meeting plays an important role in enhancing national cohesion, maintaining and consolidating national unity, and promoting national development. In recent years, with the acceleration of the process of global economic integration and the impact of foreign cultures, the social life of the Qiang people has undergone drastic changes. Affected by changes in the social living environment, factors such as young people going out to work and the weakening of their feelings for traditional rituals have weakened the dissemination and continuation of Qiang traditional culture. In addition, the Shibis who presided over the mountain circumambulation meeting have passed away one after another, and their inheritance is facing a crisis and needs to be protected urgently.
