Ding Qing Reba Dance
Dingqing Reba Dance is a kind of drum dance, and also a comprehensive performing art that integrates speaking, singing, dancing, acrobatics and qigong. Dingqing Reba Dance originated from Qiongbu Dingqing, and its founder is said to be Qiongbu Milatui Baga, also known as Milarepa. Legend has it that Dingqing County in Qamdo region had a tropical climate at that time, and elephants lived there. People killed elephants and spread their skins on the ground, and danced on them to worship gods, thus creating the Reba Dance. Dingqing County can be said to be the birthplace of Reba Dance. There are three main schools of Dingqing Reba Dance, which are: Gacuo Reba, also known as "Seza Reba", which is popular in Seza, and has a history of more than 500 years; Woto Reba, which is popular in Juen, and has a history of more than 940 years; Dongluo Reba, also known as Kangsha Reba, which is popular in Sangduo, and has a history of more than 300 years. The most famous of them is Woto Reba of Qiongbu Dingqing. The characteristic of Woto Reba is that its skills are difficult, such as pole climbing skills, breaking stones on the abdomen, and knife-clamping rotation, which are all Woto Reba's unique skills. Kangsha Reba is one of the important Reba schools that are still active on the stage in Qamdo. Its traditional programs include one-point drum, zero-point drum, six-point drum, nine-point drum, etc., and some string dance, Zhuo dance and male and female debates (equivalent to funny crosstalk) are interspersed. The performance forms of the three types of Reba are similar. They are all famous for their rough and bold dance movements and difficult dance shapes. Their music is characterized by simplicity, brightness, high pitch, passion, unrestrained and smooth. The main content is to avoid disasters, celebrate harvests, wish for good luck, etc. Dingqing Reba has an ancient tradition, many schools, and superb skills. It is an indispensable and unique variety in Tibetan folk dance. After liberation, although there is a trend of decreasing folk Reba artists, because literary and art workers at all levels go deep into life and worship folk artists as teachers, they not only inherit the traditional Reba well, but also make some reforms in acting and costumes to meet the needs of stage performances. Today, the Reba dance has been performed on domestic and international stages and has been loved by the general public. In 2002, Dingqing County was named the "Hometown of Reba Art" by the People's Government of the Tibet Autonomous Region.
