Since 2011, Bange Xieqin was excavated from the deep grasslands of northern Tibet and debuted at the New Year's Gala, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's Spring Festival Gala, CCTV's Lantern Festival Gala, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' New Year's Reception and other larger stages. It was re-appeared at the "Tibetan Evening" in 2016. Bange Xieqin, a traditional dance of the northern Tibetan pastoral area, has gradually become an original ecological cultural brand in Tibet. After five years of polishing, Bange Xieqin's popularity and influence have continued to expand. But what is more gratifying is that the understanding of traditional culture is constantly deepening, the recognition is constantly deepening, and the confidence is constantly increasing. Dance comes from the grassland. The heavenly lake Namtso is vast and tranquil, and the sacred mountain Nianqentanglha has been guarding for thousands of years. Deep in the grasslands of northern Tibet, herds of cattle and sheep, grass and sky meet, exuding a charming charm. One day in the summer of 2010, the "Tibetan Evening" crew came to Nima Township, Bange County, located on the shore of Namtso Lake. Nima Township is a pure pastoral township, and this is the birthplace and inheritance of Bange Xieqin. "Xieqin" means big song in Tibetan. It condenses the labor songs and dances produced in the production and life of northern Tibet, such as salt-carrying songs, salt-grain exchange songs, sheep-shearing songs, yogurt-making songs, mountain songs praising mountains and rivers, and pastoral songs. It has been passed down from generation to generation and widely circulated among the people of Nima Township. The "Xieqin" in Bange County is determined according to the content, characteristics, and rhythm of the lyrics of each song. The dance steps are brisk and unrestrained, which are not available in other "Guoxi". There are more than 100 traditional lyrics, more than 20 tunes, and more than 20 dances can be combined. In 2007, more than 200 people from Bange County participated in the Nagqu Horse Racing Festival to perform Bange Xieqin, which made Bange Xieqin go out of Bange County and began to be known by the outside world, and attracted the attention of the "Tibetan Evening" crew. "I hope to deeply explore the unique original ecological programs in our region and promote them to more TV viewers through the platform of the Tibetan Evening." The traditional original ecological dance Bange Xieqin was a program strongly promoted by Gongbu, the chief director of the "Tibetan Evening" that year. After careful selection, 80 outstanding folk dancers were selected from 400 herdsmen. The youngest among them was only 14 years old, and the oldest was Siba, the 42-year-old inheritor of Bange Xieqin. Bange Xieqin is said to have a history of hundreds of years and has been danced by the villagers for generations. In Siba's generation, it was performed on the stage of the New Year's Eve party. "Now on the stage, although the formation, rhythm and neatness are also emphasized, some things must be preserved, that is, their original ecology, their simple eyes, their enthusiasm for life and bright smiles from the bottom of their hearts." Shading, the choreographer from the Tibetan Song and Dance Troupe, is very optimistic about this original ecological program. Through artistic refinement, Bange Xieqin was choreographed as "Dance of the Heavenly Lake" and presented to the audience for the first time in the "Tibetan Evening" in 2011. The "Tibetan Evening" crew called it the most original original ecological song and dance program of the "Tibetan Evening" that year. After the world-famous dance "Dance of the Heavenly Lake" made its debut at the "Tibetan Evening", it amazed the audience, aroused strong response and was well received by the audience. Although the stage is small, the world it opens up is huge. From the initial nervousness of facing the lights and cameras to the current eagerness to go on stage to show the culture of their hometown, these actors from pastoral areas have completed a transformation and continued to inherit and carry forward the Bange Xieqin hidden deep in the grassland. Today, "Dance of the Heavenly Lake" has become a well-known work at home and abroad. Bange Xieqin has been frequently performed in front of the audience on major stages such as the 60th Anniversary of the Peaceful Liberation of Tibet Gala, the 2012 CCTV Lantern Festival Gala, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs New Year Reception, the Ministry of Culture Spring Festival Gala, the National-22nd "Starlight Award" Awards Ceremony, the opening ceremony of the 14th Beijing International Tourism Festival, the 2013 CCTV-3 Spring Festival Gala and the Tibet Expo. The heavy fur coat, white fur hat, gorgeous costumes and cheerful dance Bange Xieqin came from the depths of the grassland, showing the simple, kind, hardworking, brave and passionate national character of the Tibetan herdsmen in northern Tibet to the audience, and also presenting a beautiful Tibet that is constantly developing and changing and has unique charm to the world. In 2011, Bange Xieqin was selected into the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List, and also won the honors of "Advanced Collective of Grassroots Cultural Construction in the Whole Region" and "Five One Project Creation" Award of the Tibet Autonomous Region. Nima Township of Bange County was also successfully selected as "China's Folk Culture and Art Hometown". Relying on Bange Xieqin, the Bange County Party Committee and the County Government seized the opportunity and formed a herdsmen Xieqin performance team with the voluntary participation of herdsmen, creating high-quality programs, carrying out colorful cultural activities, and vigorously promoting excellent national traditional culture. At present, this herdsmen performance team has absorbed more than 500 herdsmen actors, becoming the largest and most populous folk performance team on the Tibetan grassland in northern Tibet. Rooted in the grassland "The excellent traditional culture of northern Tibet comes from the grassland. Various intangible cultural heritages are born in the grassland, and Bange Xieqin is a national folk cultural treasure nurtured by the vast northern Tibetan grassland." Tsering Tashi, the head of Bange County, attaches great importance to the construction of the cultural brand of Bange Xieqin and is constantly thinking about it. He said that Bange Xieqin, as an excellent folk cultural art produced in the northern Tibetan grassland, must also be closely linked to the life, culture, history and landscape of the grassland in order to continuously radiate greater charm. Indeed, as a dance, Bange Xieqin deeply reflects the harmonious coexistence of man and nature, and its cultural and spiritual connotations. Tsering Tashi said that Bange County is located in the core area of Namtso National Park and is an important part of the ecosystem and cultural system of Namtso National Park. The nomadic culture of northern Tibet represented by Bange Xieqin is closely linked to the image of Namtso National Park. In the next step, we will pay more attention to the integrity of the landscape and the connectivity of the culture, take the creation of the "Namtso" cultural brand as a foothold, and continue to refine the characteristic tourism culture around Namtso, such as Bange Xieqin, so that the ancient pastoral songs can bloom beautifully in the new era, and the herdsmen who have lived here for generations can participate in and integrate into the tourism development of Namtso, and continuously create a harmonious and happy new life on the grassland.
