Peng Linong, female, from Changsha, Hunan. Hunan opera performing artist and educator. Born on April 8, 1930, died on January 16, 1985. Joined the Chinese Communist Party in 1956, and served as vice president of Hunan Hunan Opera Theater in 1958. Since 1959, she has served as a member of the Third, Fourth and Fifth National Committees of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a member of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, a director of the China Dramatists Association, vice chairman of the Hunan Dramatists Association, and vice president of the Hunan Provincial Art School. Peng Linong was born into a Hunan opera family. Her father, Peng Jusheng, was a famous Hunan opera qin player. The good family environment made her influenced by Hunan opera art since she was a child. In 1942, she went to Guilin and joined the Zhongxing Hunan Opera Troupe led by Tian Han. Under the guidance of Tian Han, she carried out anti-Japanese propaganda and began her artistic career. After becoming an artist, Peng Linong was instructed by Wu Shaozhi, a famous Hunan opera actor, and later learned opera from the old artist Xiao Quanxiang. Due to hard work and practice, her art has made great progress. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, she performed in the Binhu area and gained a good reputation. In September 1949, she joined the Dongting Xiang Opera Working Group of the Political Department of the 12th Corps of the Chinese People's Liberation Army in Changsha (renamed the Hunan Xiang Opera Troupe in 1953). She starred in new dramas such as "Jianghan Fisherman's Song" and "Nine Pieces of Clothes", which promoted the innovation of Xiang Opera art. In 1952, she participated in the first National Opera Observation and Performance Conference, performed the high-pitched "Pipa on the Road" (played Zhao Wu Niang), and won the second prize for performance. In 1955, she participated in the second Hunan Opera Observation and Performance Conference, and won the first prize for performance for playing Wang Ruilan in "Double Worship of the Moon". Her performance was delicate and subtle. In 1957, the Xiang Opera high-pitched "Worship of the Moon" starring her was filmed into an opera art film, and Xiang Opera art was on the screen for the first time. In 1958, Mao Zedong watched the Xiang Opera "Fighting Wild Geese Back to the Kiln", had a cordial conversation with the Hunan Opera performing artist Peng Linong, and put forward suggestions for revision. In 2008, Peng Linong's Hunan opera performance art was included in the second batch of intangible cultural heritage list of Hunan Province. [Artistic characteristics of Peng Linong] As a representative of Hunan opera performance with considerable influence in the country, Peng Linong has a unique style in the vocalization and singing of Hunan opera Gaoqiang. On the basis of inheriting the tradition, she comprehensively summarized the essence and rules of the traditional singing art of Hunan opera Gaoqiang. According to her own voice conditions, she absorbed the singing methods of various brother operas, operas and even the West, and integrated them. Gradually, she formed her own singing style with rich charm, scientific voice, clear pronunciation, euphemistic and moving, and rich voice and emotion. She has made great artistic achievements and contributions to the Hunan Hunan opera performance. Peng Linong is good at Zhengdan and also practices Gongdan. She has a clear voice and a solid foundation in pronunciation and singing. Especially in Gaoqiang singing, she pays attention to charm and conveying emotions. She is good at applying some tunes and techniques of Hanqiang to Gaoqiang. She has her own school and outstanding artistic achievements. For example, she played Zhao Wuniang in "Pipa Ji". In the "exile" aria with 50 or 60 sentences without music accompaniment, she also learned to play Gongdan, which was full of deep feelings and moving. She portrayed characters without falling into stereotypes. The characters she created, such as Zhao Wuniang (Pipa on the Road), Wang Ruilan (Worshiping the Moon) and Liu Yingchun (Shooting Wild Geese Back to the Kiln), have distinct personalities and strong local characteristics. In 1952, she participated in the first National Opera Observation and Performance Conference and was praised by her peers and audiences. Her performance can start from the character. In "Rengui Returns to the Kiln", she created the role of Liu Yingchun, which broke through the constraints of tradition, melted the performances of Qingyi, Huadan and even Dajiao Podan into one furnace, and played the character realistically and credibly. She acted very seriously. Even if she played a minor role, such as Yue in "Hunting Back to the Book", she would make new creations based on her own experience to highlight the character's personality and complex thoughts and feelings. She not only attached importance to the inheritance of tradition, but also had the courage to innovate and create in Xiang opera singing. The "Three Eyes of Zhengnan Road" she created for Bai Suzhen's singing in the danqiang "Broken Bridge" has been widely circulated in Xiang opera art groups. Peng Linong also worked hard to train young actors. Xiang opera performing artist Zuo Daying and others were her students and received her careful teaching. She devoted herself to cultivating talents for Xiang opera art until the end of her life and made great contributions to drama education. Peng Linong once collaborated with others to adapt the Hunan opera "Pipa Ji", and wrote the articles "How I Played Wang Ruilan in the Umbrella Snatching" (published in "Hunan Drama" No. 2, 1959), "My Experience in Playing Baiyue" (published in "Hunan Drama" No. 9, 1959), "I Must Let My Apprentice Surpass Me" (published in "Hunan Drama" No. 11, 1959), "First of All, I Am a Party Member, Then an Artist" (published in "Hunan Drama" No. 3, 1960), "How I Played Yue" (published in "Hunan Drama" No. 2, 1980), "Being a Competent Gardener" (published in "Juhai" No. 5, 1982), "Praise for the Excellent Performance of Han Opera Yuzhoufeng" (published in "Hunan Drama" No. 3, 1982), etc. Peng Linong's existing film and television works include: opera art film "Moon Worship" (Xiang Opera Gaoqiang, 1957), opera art film "Life and Death Card" (Xiang Opera Danqiang, 1959); audio-visual products include: "Peng Linong Singing Album", "Pipa Ji", "Hunting Return Letter", "Going Back to the Kiln", "Double Going Down the Mountain", "Si Fan", "Broken Bridge", etc. In 2008, Peng Linong's Xiang Opera Performance Art was identified as the second batch of intangible cultural heritage list projects in Hunan Province.
