The legend of Zhuodao Spring is spread in Hongshan. It tells the story that Guan Yu stationed his troops at Zhuodao Spring. Due to drought and lack of water, the soldiers and horses were thirsty. In a hurry, Guan Yu stabbed the ground with his sword, and water suddenly gushed out into a spring. Later, people named this spring "Zhuodao Spring". At the foot of Fuhu Mountain in Hongshan District, it is said that there was an ancient well. Later generations built a temple because of the well, named "Yuquan Temple", and the original Zhuodao Spring was in front of this temple. According to historical records, "Yuquan Temple" was first built in the Song Dynasty. It is located at the pass of the ancient Wuchang East Post Road, that is, the famous Hongshan "Nine Ridges and Eighteen Concave" place. There is Guizi Mountain in front of it, and the terrain is dangerous, which is a place for military strategists to fight for. In the early Ming Dynasty, Zhu Zhen, King Zhao of Chu, came here to visit. Seeing a well in front of the temple with clear water and light green color, he scooped water with a cup to drink. He felt sweet and delicious, so he exclaimed: It is really a divine spring! So people built a well platform and stone railings here, and personally wrote the three words "Zhuo Daoquan" and engraved them on the stone railings. This is the Zhuo Daoquan historic site that tourists see today. Later, folk legends said that when Guan Yu passed by Fuhu Mountain, he was exhausted and dragged his sword on the ground, and clear spring water gushed out from the ground. This story spread more and more widely. As time passed, it gradually replaced the impression of the "Zhuo Daoquan" version of King Zhao of Chu among later generations. Later, "Yuquan Temple" enshrined Guan Gong. On the left side of the main hall of "Yuquan Temple" is Taoyuan Pavilion, where the statues of Liu, Guan, and Zhang are sworn brothers, and the main hall is for Guan Gong's statue. The area around Zhuodao Spring was originally a wilderness. In the second year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty, with the donation of the noble Yihou Zhong Gong, pine, bamboo, plum, peach, plum, cypress, etc. were replanted, and ancient trees have been lingering around since then. Today, in addition to the main hall and the ancient well of "Yuquan Temple", the two stone tablets of "Zhuo Daoquan Record" and "Yuquan Temple Record" can be seen, but the "Taoyuan Pavilion" mentioned in ancient books has long disappeared.
