Zhang's orthopedics was founded in the third year of the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty (1823), and it has been more than 180 years since then. It has been passed down for seven generations, and has a unique style in bone-setting techniques, Chinese medicine for internal and external application, and fir bark fixation to treat rheumatism, arthralgia, fractures, tendon injuries and other bone injuries, forming a theoretical system and becoming one of the major schools of orthopedics. In the early years of the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty, Zhang Zhengchuan learned the traumatology from wandering monks, mainly using external treatment. In the late years of the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty, his son Zhang Rukui opened the Baochuntang traumatology department in Huangyan. By the third generation successor Zhang Yutang, he summarized a set of theories, methods, prescriptions, and medicines for both internal and external treatment, combining Chinese herbal medicine with ancestral finger acupuncture to treat soft tissue injuries. For trauma patients, catechu decoction is used to wash and clear sores, and pearl powder is used to promote muscle growth and close wounds. The fifth generation successor Zhang Xianfa, integrating modern technology, has made a leap forward in traditional bone injury therapy. 1. Pay attention to the overall view when treating, attach importance to the relationship between internal organs, qi and blood, attach importance to palpation, and emphasize that the hand touches the heart. 2. Emphasis is placed on both tendons and bones, with unique acupuncture and tendon-regulating techniques. The "Ten Methods of Bone Correction" have been summarized. The techniques used during the operation should be gentle, light, steady and accurate, so as to achieve the state of "where the method is applied, the patient knows the pain and the bones have been closed". 3. There are strict requirements for the selection and fixation of fir bark splints, and the production process has been improved. It has the characteristics of convenience, simplicity, lightness, non-allergenic, strong plasticity, and X-ray permeability, which is conducive to early functional training. It is matched with homemade ointments to reduce swelling, fix, and promote fracture healing. 4. Zhang's orthopedics originated from the southeast of Zhejiang, which is mountainous and coastal with heavy humidity. Zhang's Chinese herbal medicine for internal and external application has the effects of removing blood stasis and relieving pain, warming the meridians and promoting fracture healing. It has a unique therapeutic effect on the dampness of the coastal areas, has the characteristics of the southern region, and is typical and representative. Zhang's orthopedics, like other Chinese medicine disciplines, is gradually being squeezed out by Western medicine. The inheritors are over 70 or nearly 60 years old. There are 6 inheritors in the sixth generation, and only 7 inheritors in the seventh generation. It is urgent to train outstanding successors to get rid of the dilemma of lack of successors.
