Baoding Prefecture Traditional Yang Style Tai Chi
The traditional Yang style Tai Chi of Fu Nei School is a series of Tai Chi exercises that Mr. Yang Luchan passed on to Zai Lian, Zai Yi and Fu Zhou, who held great power, in the palace of the Qing Dynasty. It was revived in Baoding by Xiao Gongzhuo, the successor of the Fu Nei School. Due to the place of teaching and the identity of the practitioners, this series of exercises was named "Fu Nei School" by the predecessors. The traditional Yang style Tai Chi of Fu Nei School is a series of exercises, including: "Thirteen General Postures", "Big Frame", "Old Frame", "Small Frame", "Small Nine Heavens", "Postnatal Method", "Thirty Free Hands", "Tai Chi Long Fist", "Tai Chi Sword", "Wudang Health Preservation Exercises", "Tai Chi Pushing Hands", etc. The exercise content and movement specifications are significantly different from other Tai Chi, which are specifically manifested in the hand shape, hand technique, step type, step method, body shape, body method and other aspects. For example, hand shape: other Tai Chi Quan require the palm to be slightly closed and the five fingers slightly separated, while most routines of this series require the four fingers to be together and the thumb to be slightly bent; the hand techniques are also different from other Tai Chi Quan: for example, other Tai Chi Quan require horizontal holding, while this series requires the hand to be vertical; step type: other Tai Chi Quan require bow and kick step, while most of this series require three-body step type; the difference in three-body step type also determines the difference in body shape. This series conforms to the principles of Taoism, art, body and health preservation of Wudang, and is natural, simple and soft. At present, this series has been recorded into a teaching CD by Mr. Xiao Tieseng, son of Xiao Gongzhuo, and Ms. Lu Shuhui at the People's Sports Audio and Video Publishing House in September 2003, and has been distributed at home and abroad. Mr. Xiao Tieseng inherited his father's knowledge and continued to spread the "Fu Nei School" in Baoding and other places, and spread the "Fu Nei School" across the ocean to the United States, Norway and other places. The traditional Yang style Tai Chi of Funai School is a valuable intangible cultural heritage of the Chinese nation. It fills a gap in the history of Chinese martial arts and is of great significance for studying the history of Chinese martial arts and promoting and developing Chinese martial arts culture.
