Yao Style Tai Chi (selected into the third batch of Tangshan City Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2013) Yao Fuchun Tai Chi was passed down by Mr. Yao Fuchun, a famous modern Chinese martial artist and master of Zunhua internal boxing. For more than a hundred years, it is different from other styles of Tai Chi in China and is the most representative local boxing. It is mainly spread in Zunhua and surrounding counties in Tangshan area. It is also inherited and taught in Jiangxi, Shanxi and even Taiwan in China, and is also preserved in Japan and Singapore. Yao Fuchun Tai Chi is divided into long and short fists. The short boxing is divided into three sections, with a total of 87 styles, highlighting the palm technique; the most unique is the Tai Chi long boxing, with a total of 148 styles in four sections, with many repeated movements, characterized by stretching and generosity, and containing ten forms (dragon, snake, crane, tiger, horse, chicken, eagle, bear, phoenix, monkey). Each form has its own charm and offensive and defensive connotations. The body movements are simple, profound and rich in connotation, such as: covering, pulling, holding, shrinking, struggling, kicking, twisting, wrapping and other body techniques, showing the characteristics of Tai Chi long boxing in fitness and attacking and defending against the enemy. Yao Fuchun Tai Chi uses the principle of organic yin and yang conversion of Wujibian, the operation of the natural law of the human body, and the role of muscle support to maintain the balance of life, emphasizing the pure softness and naturalness of Tai Chi, using stillness to control movement, using softness to overcome hardness, and using compliance to avoid harm. This boxing method integrates the essence of Tai Chi, Xingyi and Bagua. People generally say: the arms of Xingyi, the legs of Bagua, and the waist of Tai Chi. Yao Fuchun Tai Chi emphasizes the core role of internal strength. It adapts to the natural laws of the body, seeks a strong body and longevity in harmony, emphasizes the upper body is light and upright, the lower body is solid and stable, the mind is concentrated, peaceful and soft, and the waist is emphasized when punching. The rings are connected, continuous, and the movement is like drawing silk. It is even and slow, from the inside to the outside, gentle and harmonious, cultivates the mind and cultivates the nature, and increases wisdom. When exercising, the hands are invisible when the hands are out, and the shape is invisible when the movement is in the gap. It is extremely sharp and enters the gap. It is flexible and natural. It is quiet like a virgin, moving like a mountain, and the shape is like a cat catching a mouse. The muscles and bones should be loose, the skin and fur should be tight, and the joints are connected, and the emptiness is in it. After more than 40 years of pure practice, diligent study and hard practice; later, after being instructed by many famous masters, Mr. Yao melted Tai Chi, Xingyi, and Bagua into a furnace of pure and superior kung fu. Although it is very easy to practice, it is very difficult to master it, and it is difficult to see results in a short period of time. Nowadays, there are more than 2,000 martial arts enthusiasts practicing Yao Fuchun Tai Chi in Zunhua, and the lineage of inheritance is very clear. Influenced by film and television dramas, most people today are interested in fighting and free fighting, which are quick to learn and highly practical. More and more people ignore the value of traditional martial arts, and there are not many who can persist in practicing for a long time. Therefore, there are very few people who can practice boxing to perfection, and there are even fewer people who inherit the essence of Mr. Yao's martial arts. The inheritors of his Tai Chi Changquan are: Meng Qingxun, Zhang Zhijun, and the inheritor of his short fist is: Zhang Jinfang. Yao Fuchun Tai Chi is based on the martial arts spirit of strengthening the body, curing diseases and prolonging life, cultivating sentiments, purifying the soul, and making friends with martial arts. It will make greater contributions to society with its characteristics of "unity of body and mind, combination of movement and stillness, both spirit and form, and suitable for all ages".
