Huaian Drum Dance
The Fourth Village is located on the south bank of Yanghe River and at the foot of Fenghuang Mountain. It is a beautiful village. Wu Desheng, a nationally famous folk singer, was born here. The Drum Dance is a unique form of the traditional community fire in the Fourth Village, which originated in the late Tang Dynasty. Legend has it that a long time ago, corrupt and tyrannical officials in the court were in power, and the peasants rose up. Once the rebels encountered a city that was heavily guarded by the government army. After a long attack, they disguised themselves in the form of community fire and Drum Dance, mixed into the city, and quickly occupied the city. This example of winning by wit was passed down and gradually evolved into folk community fire and Drum Dance. The Fourth Village community fire team is huge, with as few as 70 people and as many as hundreds of people. Among them, the eight Drum Dancers are the highlight of this team. The drummers wear colorful clothes, peach-pointed hats, mustaches, and white paint between their eyes, dressed like ugly students. Each person carries a cowhide drum on his waist, holding a drumstick in his hand, and beats it rhythmically according to the commander's requirements, accompanied by cymbals and gongs. The drum beats include fish playing in the water and phoenix 0 head; the movements include single kick, double kick, Zhang Fei riding a horse, kite turning over, etc. The movements are from slow to fast, the rhythm is high and exciting, and when it reaches 0, they dance and shout, sonorous and powerful, and then various characters dressed as women shuttle and dance. Gongs and drums are intertwined with singing and dancing, with golden sounds and jade, strong and bold, and the scene is very lively. In the early days of liberation, the first person to perform the Bengguzi dance in the village was Zhang Huaijin, followed by Xi Guilin and Li Ronglu. After the Cultural Revolution, Liu Guanglong and Xi Zhong passed down this special skill. Now, the best performer is Liu Guanglong, who is the representative inheritor. The Bengguzi dance of the Fourth Village enjoys a high reputation in the whole county and even in Zhangjiakou City. During the Spring Festival in 1980, they participated in the art performance in the whole county and won the second prize; in 2007, they performed the drum dance at the Huai'an County Go Art Festival and were favored by foreign friends; in 2007, they went to Zhangjiakou City to participate in the intangible cultural heritage art performance and were well received by leaders and experts.
