Donggou Town is located in the southwest of Funing County. It has a long history and outstanding people. It was built in the 51st year of Emperor Kangxi (1712), and has a history of 300 years. According to historical records, Donggou "is densely populated and bustling, and is a huge port in Huaidong". During the Anti-Japanese War, it was the seat of Dongyi City, Yanfu Prefectural Committee and Funing County Democratic Government. In ancient times, whenever there was a drought, in order to pray for the Dragon King to grant rain, the people here would spontaneously organize dragon playing to pray for rain. By 1875 (the year of Yi Hai in the Guangxu period), Donggou Dragon had become a household name in the surrounding areas. Because dragon dance activities were frequent and many people participated at that time, dragon dance has developed greatly. Dragon dance activities have expanded from praying for rain to festivals such as the Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, February 2, May 13, June 6, and Mid-Autumn Festival. Donggou dragon dance is generally performed in the form of double dragons, with the yellow (gold) dragon as the main dragon and the green (blue, white) dragon as the auxiliary dragon. Its movements include swimming, coiling, leaping, flipping, pointing, standing, shaking, swinging, and other dance methods. There are techniques such as dragon mouth spitting fire and dragon mouth spitting ribbons. The routines of dragon dance can be divided into birthday celebrations, street walking, celebrations, performances in front of the viewing platform, and stage performances according to the theme of the activity. Frequently used routines include: Shenlong out of the sea, double dragons soaring, golden dragon coiling pillars, and great ambitions. During the dragon dance, gongs and drums are always used for accompaniment. The accompaniment is usually suitable for five or seven people, with a big drum, two tiger sound gongs, one cymbal, and one small hall gong. The gong and drum score usually uses Jijifeng, Qiziyun, etc., which are repeated, sonorous and powerful, with a brisk rhythm, adding momentum to the dragon dance, and directing the dragon dance movements with drum beats. Donggou Dragon Dance has a long history. It is a folk dance passed down by our ancestors for hundreds of years. The dragon dance records the culture and art of the Donggou people's life in each era, and has a certain historical value. The performance form, routine, dance method and musical accompaniment of Donggou Dragon Dance have high artistic value. As one of Donggou's cultural business cards, Donggou Dragon Dance is often invited to perform, compete and other cultural exchange activities inside and outside the province, and has a certain cultural value. In today's era of rapid development of science and technology, culture and entertainment, Donggou Dragon Dance is also developing continuously. Dragon dance culture and performances still have a large audience, but there are not many people who can dance and like dragon dance. Some of the older generation have passed away, and some can no longer continue to dance due to physical reasons. In order to protect and inherit Donggou Dragon Dance, Donggou established a dragon dance association and formed women's dragon dance teams and student dragon dance teams. Donggou Dragon Dance has been performing dragon dances in and outside the county, and is often invited to participate in tours and various events in and outside the province.
