Jingxian Palace Wooden Comb has a long history of production and exquisite craftsmanship. It is mainly produced in Langqiao Town of the county. The production of wooden combs in Langqiao Town has always been popular among the people in the town, and its production process has a history of more than 1,000 years. At present, the annual output of the county is more than 80 million, accounting for 70% of the national wooden comb output, with an output value of nearly 200 million yuan. In August 2006, the town was awarded the title of "Hometown of Chinese Wooden Combs" by the China Light Industry Federation. Throughout the ages, whether it is a famous noble celebrity or a commoner who works from sunrise to sunset, they are inseparable from combs day and night. The Han Dynasty Yuefu "Mulan Poem" has poems such as "taking off the hat and putting on the head" and "combing the cloud hair by the window", which best reflects the close connection between the ancient working people of my country and the comb. Combing hair with a wooden comb can dredge the meridians, activate blood circulation and remove blood stasis, and improve the absorption of nutrients in the scalp and brain. Sui Dynasty medical scientist Chao Yuan pointed out that "combing the hair can unclog the blood vessels and prevent hair from graying". The great writer Su Dongpo had a deep understanding of combing the hair. He said, "Combing the hair more than a hundred times, letting it loose and sleeping soundly, until dawn". The craft of making wooden combs is a pure handmade product. It has fine workmanship, smooth teeth and comfortable feel. Wooden combs do not generate static electricity, do not stretch hair, blacken hair and relieve itching. Long-term use can not only protect hair and beautify hair, but also refresh the mind, promote brain blood circulation, and achieve the effect of relieving fatigue. It is a very precious folk traditional handicraft. Jing County is located in the southeast of Anhui Province. It has a good ecological environment and is a pilot county for the construction of a national ecological demonstration zone. The territory is full of high mountains and dense forests, crisscrossing streams, and the forest coverage rate is 64.8%. It is known as "the mountains and rivers are clear and beautiful, and the beauty is the best in the south of the Yangtze River". Jing County was established in the early Han Dynasty. It has a long history and has produced many talented people. Literati from all dynasties have come here. The great Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai wrote in "Presented to Wang Lun" that "The water of Taohuatan is a thousand feet deep, but it is not as deep as the love Wang Lun gave me" when he came to Taohuatan Town in the county. Wang Lun was once the county magistrate of Jing County. It can be seen that Jing County has unique natural conditions and cultural heritage for producing wooden combs. The palace wooden comb is made of natural and precious materials such as superior boxwood, sandalwood, peach wood, pear wood, agarwood, jujube wood, etc. It inherits the traditional hand-made combing process, uses 18 unique processes such as high temperature and high pressure, and is exquisitely made by combining modern grinding and polishing and other unique hand-made processes. Its color is beautiful and natural, the teeth are smooth and bright, its shape is unique, and it feels great. It does not pull hair, does not hurt the scalp, and does not carry static electricity. Long-term use can effectively stimulate the acupuncture points on the head, promote blood circulation in the head, and has the effects of clearing the brain, nourishing hair, and promoting sleep. It is a natural and green daily necessities necessary for home and travel. More than 300 varieties of wooden combs in eight series, including practical, craft, tourism, health, boutique and pet, have been developed, and the products are exported to Southeast Asia, Europe, America, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. In 2005, the People's Government of Anhui Province presented the "Gongting" brand wooden comb as a gift to the then Secretary-General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan. Since 2005, the "Gongting" brand wooden comb has been successively rated as a famous trademark of Anhui Province and a famous brand product of Anhui Province. In the late 1990s, the market economy developed rapidly, which had a huge impact on the traditional wooden comb handicraft production model. The wooden comb process is small in scale, long in cycle and high in cost. Compared with the mechanized large-scale production of comb products, the Gongting wooden comb still relies on traditional handmade craftsmanship. It takes more than a dozen manual processes such as sawing blanks, opening teeth, picking teeth, winding backs, polishing, etc. to form a finished product. It lacks market competitiveness and has poor economic benefits, and it is becoming more and more passive in the market. In recent years, a large number of young and middle-aged rural laborers in Jing County have left the countryside, and few of the remaining young people are willing to engage in the handmade production of wooden combs. At present, the palace wooden comb handicraft with a history of thousands of years is facing the dilemma of no successor.
