Zipeng Mountain is located in the central part of Feixi County. It belongs to the remnant of Dabie Mountain and is known as the "Northern Jiuhua". It has a splendid Buddhist cultural heritage. The mountain has towering ancient trees and beautiful scenery. It is known as the "No. 1 Famous Mountain in Luyang". According to legend, Li Dian, a general of the Wei Dynasty in the Three Kingdoms period, guarded Hefei and built a temple on the top of the mountain to worship his seventh-generation ancestor, Li Ling, a general of the Han Dynasty. Therefore, Zipeng Mountain is also called Li Ling Mountain. Because Zipeng Mountain is located on the west side of Luzhou, Li Ling Temple was named Xilu Temple in the Tang Dynasty, and it has a history of more than a thousand years. The traditional folk culture of Xilu Temple on Zipeng Mountain and the Zipeng Mountain Temple Fair derived from it has a long history. As the Northern Jiuhua Mountain, Zipeng Mountain has a rich Buddhist culture among the people. The early Zipeng Mountain Temple Fair was prosperous and famous, and pilgrims came in groups. This organized pilgrimage was called Chengqi. A team of incense burners raised a flag, and the organizer was called Xiangshou. There are organized pilgrimages, and the flag is divided into four parts: flag, gong, carriage, and guide. The organization is strict and neat. There are three or four hundred people on each flag of such organized incense burners, and at least seven or eight flags a day. It is said that on July 28, 1936, there were 28 flags, and tens of thousands of people, which was a grand occasion. Today, people naturally do not use the ancient method to make pilgrimages. With the development of the times, pilgrims use special ways of pilgrimage to make the Zipeng Mountain Temple Fair more characteristic of the times. There are three Zipeng Mountain Temple Fairs every year, namely the birthday of Guanyin on February 19th of the lunar calendar, the debut day of Guanyin on September 19th, and the birthday of Ksitigarbha on July 30th. Among them, the temple fair on February 19th of the lunar calendar is the most grand. During the temple fair, about 100,000 people went up the mountain to worship, burn incense, do business, and travel. It is the largest temple fair in Hefei. As a unique scene in a period, a certain region, and a certain temple, the Zipeng Mountain Temple Fair is worth recalling. In 2007, the Zipeng Mountain Temple Fair was included in Hefei’s first batch of “intangible cultural heritage” projects.
