Xianbanqiang shadow play is popular in Qianxian, Xingping, Liquan, Xianyang and other places in Guanzhong. Xianbanqiang is also called "Banbanqiang", named after the main accompaniment instrument "erxianzi" and the percussion instrument "banzi". It was formed in the early Qing Dynasty. It was originally a rap form in which one person shook the "daidaizi" (erbanzi) with his left hand and made a knot (i.e. grass board) with his right hand. In the middle of the Qing Dynasty, artists added self-made earthen three-string and earthen two-string string accompaniment, and began to form the "zhengbandiao" with the string tune as the main tune, and successively extended the tunes of "manban" and "erliu", which made Xianbanqiang enter its first period of development and prosperity. During the reign of Emperor Daoguang and Emperor Xianfeng, Wang Xiucai of Liquan created various tunes such as "Dakaiban" based on "Zhengban". The erhu was added to the instrument. The accompaniment form of two boards with two strings and three strings was adopted, forming a rich, crisp and bright vocal cavity characteristic, laying the basic pattern of string-banqiang music, and once again making string-banqiang enter the best period with numerous classes and artists. There were more than 60 classes in various places at one time. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Qianxian, Xingping, Liquan and other places also put it on the stage for performance. String-banqiang has formed a performance form that combines shadow puppetry and stage performances, and has been circulated among the people for a long time. In recent years, it has been in an endangered situation and urgently needs to be rescued and protected.
