Jianchang shadow puppetry originated in Hebei and has a long history, and is deeply loved by the local people. There are many representative repertoires of Jianchang shadow puppetry, such as: "Five Summits", "Wang Dun Usurping the Throne", "Ma Qianlong Going to the Country", "Yang Wenguang's Expedition to the West", "Mud Horse Crossing King Kang", etc., most of which are myths, fables, and historical stories. The scripts are mostly about loyalty, righteousness, fighting violence and protecting the good, punishing evil and promoting good, and cause and effect. Jianchang shadow puppetry was introduced from Hebei and belongs to the board cavity. The board styles include slow board, flowing board, fast board, and scattered board. Due to the influence of dialects and nostalgia, it has formed its own style in the process of inheritance, such as: three tops and seven, five-character brocade, hard ruts, old rhymes, great sorrow, etc., which are slightly different from other shadow puppets. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Jianchang shadow puppetry gradually declined. Now only the old stick Wang Qingjiang and Wang Qingtang shadow puppets, Yaolugou Yu Jingli shadow puppets are still being performed. Shadow puppetry is a folk drama that uses light to illuminate the silhouettes of characters made of animal skins to perform stories. It is an ancient folk art.
