Philosophy related to the heritage

As an oasis in the modern city, Fengtai Garden can be interpreted from different perspectives of Eastern and Western philosophy. From the perspective of Eastern philosophy, Fengtai Garden embodies the concept of "harmony between man and nature". In traditional Chinese philosophy, humans and nature are interdependent and coexist harmoniously. The layout of vegetation, waterscape and architecture in the garden reflects this harmony between nature and humanity. Whether it is the emptiness of Zen or the natural inaction of Taoism, both emphasize following the rhythm of nature and respecting the vitality of nature. Fengtai Garden is mainly based on natural landscape in design, with little excessive human intervention, showing the philosophical idea of "harmony between man and nature". Western philosophy may interpret Fengtai Garden from the perspective of "aesthetics" and "functionalism". Western aesthetics often focuses on how humans examine their relationship with nature through rationality, and pays attention to the interaction and change between humans and the environment. The sculptures, symmetrical layout and design in the garden often reflect the order and symmetry beauty in Western gardening design. "Utilitarianism" in Western philosophy may emphasize that the garden is not only a place for people to enjoy beauty, but also a place for leisure and relaxation, with functional spatial significance. From these two perspectives, Fengtai Garden is not only a presentation of natural landscape, but also an expression of cultural and philosophical concepts, showing the different understandings of the relationship between man and nature in the East and the West.
