Würzburg Residence with the Court Gardens and Residence Square

This magnificent Baroque palace, surrounded by beautiful gardens and one of the largest and most beautiful in Germany, was built under the patronage of Bishops Lothar Franz and Friedrich Karl von Schönborn. It was constructed and decorated in the 18th century by an international team of architects, painters (including Tiepolo), sculptors and plasterers, led by Balthasar Neumann.

Historic Centre of Warsaw

More than 85% of Warsaw's Old Town was destroyed by Nazi troops during the Warsaw Uprising in August 1944. After the war, Warsaw citizens launched a five-year reconstruction campaign, and today the Old Town with its churches, palaces and markets has been meticulously restored. It is an outstanding example of an almost complete reconstruction of history from the 13th to the 20th century.

Auschwitz Birkenau German Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp (1940-1945)

Solid walls, barbed wire, platforms, barracks, gallows, gas chambers and crematoriums illustrate the conditions of genocide in the concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest concentration camp in the Third Reich. According to historical research, 1.5 million people, including a large number of Jews, were systematically starved, tortured and killed in this camp, a symbol of human cruelty to his fellow man in the 20th century.

It was during his exile in the Wartburg that Martin Luther translated the New Testament into German.
