Wanbao Township, Taonan City is located in the northwest of Jilin Province, in the central area of the three northeastern provinces and eastern Inner Mongolia. The climate is characterized by a large temperature difference between day and night and long sunshine hours, which is particularly suitable for the growth of root crops such as potatoes and the accumulation of starch. As Wanbao Township is located in the remnant of Changbai Mountain, the unique rock fissure water has nurtured the rapid development of Wanbao Township's vermicelli industry. The potatoes produced here are moderate in size and have a high starch content (about 1524%). Because of their thin, smooth skin and shallow and few buds, they are excellent raw materials for processing potato starch, vermicelli, and refined vermicelli. Due to the adherence to scientific, standardized, and normalized field management for many years, the potatoes produced are free of any pollution and have reached the standard of pollution-free products. Wanbao Township has a history of more than 50 years of vermicelli and vermicelli processing. There are more than 170 large-scale vermicelli mills in the township, with an annual output of more than 15,000 tons of refined flour products. In recent years, the municipal party committee and government have attached great importance to the development of Wanbao vermicelli industry based on regional characteristics and resource advantages, focusing on the development of local characteristic economy, and organizing the masses to use exquisite and skilled potato flour production technology, combining traditional crafts with modern advanced technology to create "Tianlong" refined vermicelli and rice noodles. The product features are pure white and clean, delicate taste, fresh and delicious, strong toughness, and resistance to repeated cooking. It has always enjoyed a high reputation in the vermicelli sales market and is the best green organic food for consumers. The products produced are not only popular in Baishan, Tonghua, Jilin, Changchun and other cities and districts, but also exported to Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin and other large and medium-sized cities in China, opening up a broad road for the development of regional characteristic economy. Vermicelli is the most common food for farming ethnic groups living in the north. The specific time of its origin cannot be verified, but it is recorded in the historical documents of Liao and Jin. The production of Fumaocai vermicelli in Wanbao Township has a history of hundreds of years. As early as the beginning of Tao'an, immigrants from Nanwafangdian, Liaoning, came here with their own production skills and family heritage. The traditional vermicelli making technique of Wanbao Township was first created by Qu Bosheng, and has been passed down for four generations. The current Fumaocai Ni Chengshun workshop is the direct descendant. As early as the beginning of the last century, Qu Bosheng opened a vermicelli workshop here, which was later passed down to his son Qu Shijian, son-in-law Ni Erzhong, and the next generation Qu Jiarong and Ni Chengshun.
