Huangmei County's Ziyun, Longping, Duoyun and other mountainous areas have been rich in tea as early as the Tang and Song dynasties. Every spring when picking tea, tea farmers are used to singing folk songs and folk songs while picking tea. In this endless singing all over the mountains, Huangmei Tea Picking Opera was born and matured. In the process of its own continuous development, Huangmei Tea Picking Opera actively expanded to other places. During the Kangxi and Qianlong periods of the Qing Dynasty, Huangmei Tea Picking Opera spread to Anhui with the large number of refugees and storytellers from Huangmei County entering Jiangxi, and formed a mature Huangmei Opera.
