Nanchang Tea Picking Opera, one of the local operas in Jiangxi, is commonly known as "lantern opera" and "triangle troupe". It has a history of more than 300 years. During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, Liu Shudou and others from Fenggang Village, Tacheng Township, Nanchang County, co-founded the Gangxia Liujia Opera Troupe and choreographed large-scale performances. The actors were divided into two roles: Erdan (Qingyi, Huadan) and clowns, and the roles of Xiaosheng, Laosheng, Dahua, Xiaohua Caidan were added, which have been used to this day. In 1927, Nanchang Tea Picking Opera entered Nanchang City from the countryside. In 1953, it was officially named Nanchang Tea Picking Opera. In 2008, it was listed as the second batch of intangible cultural heritage protection projects in Jiangxi Province.
