Ancient Chinese folk fabric art was mainly used for decoration of clothing, shoes and hats, bed curtains and other small items (such as headscarves, sachets, fan belts, purses, handkerchiefs, etc.), and was also used as children's toys. The patterns mostly use some symbolic graphics, such as flowers, insects, birds, plants, etc., to express the author's good wishes for good luck and avoiding evil. The items for the elderly are often decorated with themes of "blessing, fortune, and longevity" to wish them health and longevity; children's items often use patterns such as tigers and five poisonous creatures (scorpions, snakes, centipedes, geckos, and toads) to ward off evil and hope that their children will be as strong as little tigers; newlyweds' items like mandarin ducks playing in the water, lotus (continuous) giving birth to a son, and carp making trouble in the lotus (symbolizing marital harmony) to hope for a happy family and many children; the love sachets and handkerchiefs given by girls to their lovers are often in the shape of dancing butterflies or lotus flowers to implicitly express the secrets hidden in the girls' hearts, and the needles and threads are all soaked with love and admiration. Fabric art carries people's wishes for good luck and good fortune. It is generally elegant and unique in shape. It is an indispensable decoration in people's daily life. Due to its wide use, it has led to the inheritance and development of fabric art and is distributed all over the country. Flower picking is also called flower tying. Its craftsmanship is similar to paper tying. By turning colored silk or cloth into shapes of flowers, birds, beasts, insects, etc., it looks novel, soft, trembling, vigorous and lively. Sewing and pasting is the most commonly used fabric art technique among the people.
