Dashiwo Stonework Cultural Village is an intangible cultural heritage project in Beijing. Dashiwo is located in the southwest of Beijing, with an area of 96 square kilometers and a population of 38,000. The town has a wide variety of stones with excellent texture and is relatively rare, suitable for sculpture. The most precious high-quality white marble is the most precious, which was once the royal stone in history. The town has marble, dolomite, red sandstone, granite and other stones. According to surveys, the total reserves of marble are 24.5 million cubic meters, including more than 10 varieties such as white marble, Aiyeqing, screw turn, Fangshan white, etc. Among them, the reserves of white marble are 800,000 cubic meters, which was named National Standard No. 1 by the Ministry of Construction of the People's Republic of China and is famous both at home and abroad. The history of mining, carving and utilization of Dashiwo stone can be traced back to the Han Dynasty. Since the engraving of scriptures in Yunju Temple at the end of the Sui Dynasty, the royal family has built palaces, gardens, tombs and other projects in the Yuan, Jin, Ming and Qing dynasties. A large number of stonemasons and artists were transferred from Henan, Hebei, Shanxi and other places, reaching tens of thousands, and gradually formed a natural village. The Dashiwo Stonework Cultural Village was created because of "stone". The artists make their living from stone. Through hard work, they created a set of stonework techniques, including the mining, transportation, processing and carving of stone materials, as well as related industry customs, which have been passed down to this day. It has formed its own unique cultural area and is an integral part of the Chinese nation's stonework culture. After liberation, the stonemasons of Dashiwo participated in the stonework repair projects of the "Top Ten Buildings in Beijing", the Summer Palace, the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, and the Lugou Bridge. In recent years, some of the works have been sold abroad, making positive contributions to the construction of national key projects and the construction of projects such as the Chinese National Park abroad. The Dashiwo stonework culture was gradually formed along with the lives of the working people, and provided information for the study of the generation and development of stonework technology; its complete traditional stonework industry operation process and industry customs provide valuable information for the study of traditional handicrafts; Dashiwo stonework culture has specific research value in history, aesthetics, ancient architecture, and stonework craftsmanship.
