Yunlong Knitting Craft is a traditional handicraft project in the first batch of representative projects of Xuzhou's municipal intangible cultural heritage. Folk knitting craft originated from folk color-tying. Folk color-tying refers to the artistic modeling craft of using bamboo strips or iron wire as raw materials, gauze paper or other silk threads, commonly known as "tying". my country's color-tying has a long history and is one of the famous arts and crafts. During festivals and celebrations, people often hang lanterns and decorations to celebrate. Yunlong Knitting Craft uses sorghum stalks and bamboo as the main raw materials, integrating a variety of skills such as weaving, tying, pasting, cutting and painting. Its types are divided into small works such as katydid cages, sorghum stalks woven palace lanterns, bamboo pagoda temples, etc. Among them, the work "Kaiyuan Temple" reproduces the architectural style and prosperous scene of Kaiyuan Temple in Xuzhou in the Tang Dynasty, showing the charm of ancient folk art. Yunlong Knitting Craft is purely handmade, and the main processes are buckle, surround, tie, wear, weave, etc. The tools used to make it are also relatively simple, such as chisels, files, mallets, wire saws, planes, pliers, etc. Its works have a strong national style and originality. For example, the ancient architectural bamboo weaving artwork of Kaiyuan Temple in Xuzhou in the Tang Dynasty was developed by Mr. Ye Laicai after more than ten years of research and practice, which took one year and eight months. The entire temple has a rigorous structure, reasonable layout, magnificent momentum, tight joints, exquisite craftsmanship, and a unique architectural structure. The works used 10,800 beam bamboos, 100,000 bamboo tiles, 30,000 holes, 30,000 riveted bamboo nails, and 150,000 broken bamboo strips. It consists of a 2-meter-high Xieshan-style nine-level exquisite four-corner pagoda with a raised eaves and two 1.6-meter-high four-corner seven-level pagodas, and is equipped with bell towers, drum towers, the Great Hall, four-corner pavilions and other facilities. The bamboo weaving work is collected by the Xuzhou Cultural Center. The production of palace lanterns is all made of interlocking sorghum stalks, and no nails are used to fix them. The utensils used are complex, the process is time-consuming and labor-intensive, and requires a high level of artistic taste. The Yunlong knot has beautiful shapes, ingenious structures, exquisite craftsmanship, and elegant colors. It has unique local characteristics and artistic characteristics.
