Folk Weaving Skills of Feng County
Fengxian folk textile skills are a traditional skills project in the third batch of representative projects of Xuzhou's municipal intangible cultural heritage. Fengxian folk textile skills have a long history. During the Western Han Dynasty, silk was produced in the area from Linzi in the north to Guangling in the south, and Fengxian was one of them. Zhang Qian went on a diplomatic mission to the Western Regions and opened up the "Silk Road". Fengxian was under the jurisdiction of Yuzhou, and silk from the Central Plains was introduced to the Western Regions, making the Central Plains silk famous all over the world. Liu Bang became the Great Saint Emperor from a mediocre commoner, and opened the bureau of commoners and generals. In ancient times, commoners wore linen clothes, and "commoner" became a synonym for commoners. Fengxian folk textile skills have existed for a long time, and have developed innovatively in the inheritance, forming folk textile skills with Fengxian characteristics. The carrier of Fengxian folk textile skills is home-woven cloth, also known as coarse cloth and homespun cloth. Home-woven cloth is mostly white cloth and flowered cloth, and flowered cloth is divided into striped flowered cloth and square flowered cloth, with six or seven colors such as red, blue, yellow, green, and black. Clothes for clothing, quilts, shoes and socks are plain weave, woven from two pieces of silk. Hand towels are twill, woven from four pieces of silk. Fengxian folk textile skills are mainly distributed in Xukou Village, Songlou Town, Fengxian County. Fengxian folk textile skills have many processes, all of which are manual operations, with high technical difficulty, high technical level, and many types of finished products. The main raw material for folk textiles is cotton. From spinning to weaving, there are more than ten processes, and each process contains superb skills. The process is completed by ginning, fluffing, rubbing cotton, spinning, shuttle weaving, and beating. Process requirements: the fluff should be fine, and there should be no impurities in the cotton wool; the yarn should be of uniform thickness and the size of the cotton ears should be moderate; the dyeing temperature should be uniform and the coloring should be uniform; the amount of starch should be appropriate; the paste should be moderate; the warp should be accurately measured, and there should be no mistakes in hanging. Each process has specific technical specifications, which are closely related to the quality of the woven fabric. (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.) (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.)
