Singing the Phoenix is a folk art project on the third batch of representative projects of Nantong's municipal intangible cultural heritage. Singing the Phoenix is a kind of folk art project that originated from the Qingdun area of the Qingdun Neolithic Cultural Site in Nanmo Town, Hai'an County, the source of Jianghai civilization. The main areas of spread are the surrounding areas of Lixiahe Water Town in Hai'an County, and also Dongtai City, Jiangyan City, and Hai'an Duntou, Baidian and other water network towns. It is a form of mass festive cultural and artistic activities during festivals, especially folk festivals, especially during the Spring Festival. The singing activities of singing the Phoenix are generally composed of 6 actors, and there are also mixed groups of men and women. One of them holds a phoenix made of bamboo strips and decorated with colorful paper. The phoenix is an imaginary "auspicious bird" of totem worship. It has a chicken head, colorful feathers, and a peacock-like tail. It is an artificially pieced together "divine bird". It is covered with gold and silver, and is gorgeous. One person plays the huqin, and four people are equipped with "four-piece" gongs and drums to accompany the singing. The performance is in the form of leading singing and singing in unison, mostly with one person singing questions and the others answering them to express the theme of "Singing the Phoenix". "Singing the Phoenix" as a singing folk art activity has its historical heritage value in a specific area (Qingdun) and a specific period (since the Tang and Song Dynasties) and its cultural value of singing the ancients' remembrance of heroes, emulating the predecessors, and encouraging the younger generation, as well as its comparative value for the formation of the ancient civilization of the origin of Qingdun Jianghai civilization. It has certain cultural value to study, inherit and protect it. (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.) (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.)
