Lu Village in Yi County has been holding the "Dragon Lantern Festival" since ancient times. The Lu clan regards the Dragon Lantern Festival as an annual major event. On the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, all men, women, old and young in the village come out in full force, and people from all over the surrounding villages also come to watch. During the Lu Village Phoenix Dance performance, there are 12 phoenixes, representing the original 12 households in Lu Village; the size of the phoenix is determined by each household according to its economic strength. The phoenix bones are made of bamboo strips, covered with yellow cotton paper and silver cotton paper, commonly known as "gold and silver tied", hazelnut leaves are pasted on the back of the phoenix, and willow leaves are pasted under the belly of the phoenix, which later evolved into today's cotton paper and colored paper to decorate the phoenix body. There are grip rods and diagonal pull rods under the phoenix to facilitate the performance and control of the phoenix head to swing left and right, up and down, vividly. The Jishan Phoenix Dance is the only activity in the entire lantern festival that is participated by women, and it is also the most exciting and attractive dance. At the beginning, the trumpet player stands in the middle, and the phoenix dancers dance in circles around the rhythm. Then the sound of the flute suddenly rises, and the phoenix dancers play the flute to attract the phoenix. The phoenix dancers hold the bottom pole with one hand and the pull pole with the other hand, and follow the rhythm of the music, pulling and pushing, changing the formation, and dancing frequently. The basic steps of the performers are "enter-one", accompanied by the fairies looking left and right, and the colorful wind nods, stretches its neck, spreads its wings, and swings its tail, and finally accompanies the "Eight Treasures Ruyi Song".
