Nanjing Jade Carving, a traditional art project in the fourth batch of representative projects of municipal intangible cultural heritage. China's jade carving culture has a long history, and jade carving craftsmanship is the treasure of the world and the soul of the earth. Gemstones are colorful and are a symbol of human pursuit of a better life. According to the research of archaeologists and historians: Chinese jade was born in the early Neolithic Age of primitive society, and has a history of thousands of years. According to geological experts, purple robe jade is unique in the world and is produced on the top of Fanjing Mountain in Guizhou Nature Reserve. Fanjing Mountain is the ancient Taoist temple of Maitreya Buddha. For hundreds of millions of years, the essence of the sun, moon, mountains and rivers has been gathered to create this fine stone. The purple robe jade resource reserves are small, and mining is very difficult, but it is very precious and has a very high collection value. It is mainly purple, with jade and green alternating, which contains the meaning of red and purple. Folk legends say that it has Buddha nature and can bring good luck and happiness to people. Purple robe jade uses calm purple as the carrier, with green jade strips alternating, accompanied by precious colors such as brown, yellow, milky white, and orange. Zipao Jade has been included in the famous stone series of China, and is as famous as Chicken Blood Stone, Shoushan Stone, Qingtian Stone, etc. Using the naturally formed layers and patterns of Zipao Jade, and adopting the traditional folk hand-carving technology of our province, various hollow carvings, vertical carvings, and reliefs are carved in various shapes and forms, lifelike, and placed in the lobby of the room, elegant and luxurious. It has extremely high ornamental, practical and collection value. Jade carving is one of the quintessence of the Chinese nation. Our ancestors used colored stones for processing in the early days and used them as ceremonial gifts. Jade is inseparable from Chinese culture. "A gentleman will not leave his jade without reason", which certainly tells the relationship between jade and people. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, Xu Shen recorded in the "Shuowen Jiezi" the annotation of jade art: "The beauty of stone has the saying of five virtues", which shows that jade represents the gentle demeanor of gentlemen and scholars, and symbolizes the five virtues of benevolence, righteousness, wisdom, courage, and cleanliness. It is also the responsibility and obligation of generations to inherit the culture of Zipao Jade carving.
