The Tang-style traditional wooden structure building complex (Baoshan Temple) is located on the bank of Lianqi River in Luodian Town, Baoshan District, Shanghai. It starts from Luoxi Road in the east and is close to Tangxi Street in the west. It is a well-known Buddhist building complex in Shanghai. This Tang-style traditional wooden structure building complex was completed in 2010 as a relocation and reconstruction project of Baoshan Temple. It was built in accordance with the construction techniques of the Tang Dynasty and with reference to the existing Tang Dynasty relics. The construction process was entirely based on the construction techniques of traditional Chinese wooden structures in the Tang Dynasty. During the construction process, the craftsmen used traditional tools and followed traditional craftsmanship. They were meticulous and meticulous in the craftsmanship of large and small wood, bricks, tiles and stones. They either used line positioning, slotting and drilling; or polished the materials and combined them into shape; the component styles, modular dimensions, processing and assembly methods, and operation rituals during the construction all tried to follow the construction techniques and procedures of traditional buildings in the Tang and Song Dynasties. The magnificent and sturdy beams and columns, the clear and soft side angles and rises, the deep eaves, and the ingenious gardens, the Tang-style traditional wooden structure building complex (Baoshan Temple) presents the magnificent Tang and Song style of China in the 9th and 10th centuries with simple architectural language, which fully demonstrates the traditional Chinese architectural thought and craftsmanship. The construction of Baoshan Temple is not only the process of realizing the traditional construction skills itself, but also a living protection method for the inheritance of construction skills in construction practice, which reflects the inherent vitality of the construction skills of traditional Chinese wooden structures. At present, the Tang-style traditional wooden structure building complex (Baoshan Temple) has been named the inheritance and protection base of the Chinese traditional wooden structure construction skills (Baoshan Temple Tang-style wooden structure construction skills) project by the Institute of Architectural Art of the Chinese Academy of Arts.
