Xianyou's traditional wood structure construction skills are one of China's traditional ancient building construction skills. It is good at column groove brackets and mortise and tenon structures, and can integrate carving and painting art into woodwork to create magnificent and majestic ancient palace-style temples, mansions and other buildings; its beam support, mortise and tenon structure, groove arch hump and other technologies are unique in my country's ancient palace-style building construction skills. During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, Xianyou's famous craftsman Guo Huai was appreciated by Zou Yixiao, the left assistant minister of the Ministry of Works of the court, and accompanied him to Beijing many times to participate in palace construction, so he was well versed in the traditional wood structure construction skills of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Later, Guo Huai taught his apprentices in Yangtang Village, Daji, and devoted himself to the inheritance and innovation of ancient building wood construction skills. On the basis of wood carving technology, he developed the wood construction skills of ancient palaces and temples, thus gradually forming the traditional skills of Xianyou ancient building wood construction represented by "Yangtang Ancient Building". Xianyou's traditional wood structure construction techniques are complex and sophisticated, and the main production process is: 1. Make engineering design drawings; 2. Make building models; 3. Make basic ancient building beams and columns; 4. Make mortise and tenon arch structures; 5. Carve and make various patterns; 6. Install the framework; 7. Lay out rafters, fix eaves and tiles; 8. Gild and paint. The craftsmen of Xianyou's ancient wood construction use large wood such as fir, camphor, and nanmu. Through sawing, chopping, chopping, and planing, they first make key components such as pillars and beams, then hollow out and excavate the joints of the pillars and beams to make mortise and tenon arch structures, and then carve figures, flowers, mountains and rivers, birds and beasts, colorful clouds, etc. in obvious places, and finally erect pillars, install beams, crossbeams, etc., to form the basic framework of ancient wood construction. Representative works of Xianyou's traditional wooden structure construction techniques include Xianyou Confucian Temple, Duwei Yangsi Palace, Longchao Palace, Longhua Temple, Longji Temple, Sanhui Temple, Aixiao Palace and other large temple ancient buildings. In addition to the public buildings with records, Xianyou's traditional wooden structure construction techniques are also widely used in Xianyou's folk residential buildings. The Xianyou Bangtou Nanxi Mansion and Gaiwei Qianlian Mansion, which have been preserved to this day, are both exemplary works of Xianyou's ancient wooden building techniques in the Qing Dynasty. Xianyou's traditional wooden structure construction techniques have a long history of inheritance, standardized traditional techniques and brilliant production results. They have high craftsmanship and practical value, and are also of certain value to the study of ancient Chinese wooden structures.
