Compiled by Jiang YuLongkou hand-woven thread knitting is mainly based on embroidery (also known as embroidery or needle embroidery, which was called "embroidery", "needle embroidery" or "women's work" in ancient times), or combined with hook flower (also called drawnwork) techniques. In the 1950s and 1960s, a relatively large industry was formed in the local area. Knitted products were mainly used for daily life and artistic decoration, such as clothing, bedding, door curtains, tablecloths, pillowcases, cushions, children's hats, bellybands, children's pillows, small animal toys, etc. The patterns are mostly flowers, birds, insects, fish and folk customs, which are spread throughout Longkou's urban and rural areas. Longkou hand-woven thread knitting is mainly based on embroidery, or a combination of hook and embroidery, with unique craftsmanship, precise workmanship and a wide variety of patterns. During the process, people who are good at painting will first draw flowers, insects, birds, animals or other auspicious patterns into patterns. The embroiderer will use a needle to pierce small holes on the pattern lines, put the pattern on the embroidery material, and use paint to hit the small holes, leaving the pattern lines on the fabric. Then, the pattern is supported on a bamboo round flower support (for large areas, it needs to be supported on a bamboo or wooden rectangular flower support), and the pattern lines are embroidered one by one. According to the needle movement, there are several embroidery methods, such as flat needle embroidery, shovel needle embroidery, eating needle embroidery, pulling needle embroidery, half bucket pattern embroidery, spider embroidery, knot embroidery, stem embroidery, storage tank embroidery, and loose embroidery. The hook flower uses a long needle with a hook at one end to lead the thread to knot a knot, crocheting a unit pattern, and the single pattern is connected into pieces or hooked lace to make a finished product. During processing, white, red, yellow, blue, green, pink and other cotton (silk) threads are crocheted using four basic stitches: small braid, dense cloth, small board, and double high needles, to form cattail leaf fans, small turtles, half turtles, square beans, oblique beans, Zhouzhou, nets, wheat ears, corn beans, columns, etc., and then connected into pieces, and the edges are circled to form the edges of cattail leaf fans. When the hand-woven thread technique of Longkou was popular, there were about 30,000 women who specialized in processing the business, which was full of decorative interest and local flavor, and had a good reference value for the study of folk art. It condenses the wisdom and talent of Longkou women and embodies people's yearning for a better life.
