Folk Songs of Wuwei
Wuwei folk songs have a long history. They were created and developed by the people of Wuwei in production and daily life. They are an important carrier of the spirit and feelings of the people of Wuwei and a manifestation of the wisdom of the people of Wuwei. Wuwei folk songs are divided into three categories: "chant, mountain song, and minor tune", with a complete variety. "Labor chant" is representative of Wuwei folk songs. It is native and unique. Due to different labor environments and production, it came into being with the rhythm of labor. These labor chants are "bright rhythm, rough and bold, magnificent, and different in style". Yangge is also a native art variety in Wuwei folk songs. It has the characteristics of "vast and broad, simple and melodious, free rhythm, and wide content". It flies across the vast countryside and mountains with a loud and loud momentum. The "minor tune" in Wuwei folk songs is deeply loved by the people of Wuwei for its "lyrical and beautiful, fluent melody, rigorous structure, and wide range of themes". Its creation and appearance are not limited to the environment or season, and it can be active in labor or in production. Wuwei Yanqiao was the anti-Japanese base of the 7th Division of the New Fourth Army. At that time, the art troupe (team) of the 7th Division of the New Fourth Army, which was active in Wuwei Yanqiao and other places, sorted out, adapted and created some revolutionary folk songs. The lyrics of Wuwei folk songs are concise, plain, colloquial and lively, with a strong local flavor, and all have supporting words and sentences; in short, each genre has its own characteristics. Wuwei folk songs have had a great impact with the development of history and society. Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, two large-scale censuses of Wuwei folk songs have been conducted, and more than 300 original folk songs of various types have been collected and sorted out, and nearly 150 songs have been compiled into "Wuwei Folk Songs", of which 52 have been included in "Anhui Folk Music" and 38 have been included in the Anhui Volume of "Collection of Chinese Folk Songs".
