Shehuo is a kind of folk parade performance activity that gradually evolved from the community day for worshiping the earth god and the welcoming competition for worshiping the fire god. According to historical records and scholars' research, China's shehuo originated in Baoji, Western Qin. Baoji has a long history, and there has been a fashion of playing shehuo in all dynasties. Playing shehuo in Baoji is also called playing ancient stories, that is, playing ancient people and things in a certain form of shehuo. The main contents of the costumes include historical figures, opera stories, myths and legends, etc. In the long history of its development, Baoji shehuo has gradually developed from the initial folk art form that combines folk percussion, dance, poetry (ballads), dragon dance, juggling, gongs and drums to a fixed and special plastic art. It includes art forms and folk activities such as folk art, folk music, and folk dance, and has high folk and aesthetic value. Baoji shehuo is divided into daytime shehuo and night shehuo according to the performance time, and can be divided into plastic shehuo and performance shehuo according to its performance form. The modeling firework includes walking firework, back firework, horse firework, car firework, core firework, mountain firework, blood firework, mask firework, etc., which are performed in a procession; the performance firework includes ground firework, stilt firework, etc., which are mainly performed in the courtyard with singing and fighting. The firework also includes Xiqin hundred-faced gongs and drums, tricky drums, Xifu suona, dragon dance, lion dance, yangko, waist drum, bamboo horse, dry boat, driving stubborn donkey, two ghosts wrestling, Zhang Gong carrying Zhang Po, mute brother carrying sister, big-headed doll, mask dance, comedy performance, etc. There are firework parades in all counties and districts of Baoji, especially the Chencang District Firework and Long County Firework are the most representative. Baoji Firework is based on folk legends and drama stories, and a story is expressed through one or a group of characters, and one story is a turn of firework. The characters should draw firework facial makeup, wear firework costumes, and hold firework sticks. The parade of community fire is usually preceded by the scouts, followed by the community fire flag, the fire gun team (cannon team), the flag team, the community fire team, and finally the gong and drum team. The parade team is large in lineup, magnificent in momentum, with loud gongs and drums, and very lively. Reform and opening up have given new vitality to Baoji community fire art. After being adapted, directed and rehearsed by experts, it has now developed into a multifunctional community fire performance form that is both a large-scale square cultural art and can be performed on stage. In recent years, the Baoji Community Fire Art Troupe has represented the country, province and city to visit Germany, Thailand, Australia, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong and other places, and was invited to participate in the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, which was deeply loved and welcomed by audiences at home and abroad. In 2003, Baoji was named "Shaanxi Folk Community Fire Art Hometown" by Shaanxi Province, and in 2009, it was named "China Folk Community Fire Art Hometown" by the Ministry of Culture.
