Lisu folk songs include Mu Gua, Bai Shi and You Ye. "Mu Gua" is one of the most important and widely spread folk songs of the Lisu people, and is spread in the Lisu-inhabited areas of Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. Mu Gua originally referred to all songs and tunes in Lisu language, and later gradually became a special name for narrative ancient songs. Other songs and tunes belonging to the Mu Gua category are generally named after the content, such as Achi Mu Gua (goat tune) and Qiben Mu Gua (three-string tune). Mu Gua is mainly used for traditional narrative long poems with serious content and solemn atmosphere, and is often sung at times and occasions such as national festivals and festivals. Representative singing contents include "Genesis", "Production Tune", "Shepherd Song", "Escape from Marriage Tune", etc., with simple and deep tunes, and a desolate and ancient style. Mu Gua is generally performed by middle-aged and elderly men divided into two parties, sitting cross-legged around the fire pit, and singing in duets as men and women. In duet, each side is led by one person, and the others sing along. The lead singer sings one sentence, and the accompanying singer sings another sentence. During the singing, wine is used to cheer up, and the people sing while drinking. The wooden scraper duet also has the characteristics of competition. If both the lead singers are good at duet, the duet often lasts for several days and nights. The traditional narrative songs of the Lisu people, which are sung with wooden scrapers, widely involve the origin of the nation, human reproduction, production and life, customs and habits, love and marriage, religious beliefs and ethnic exchanges, vividly reproduce the broad picture of the social history of the Lisu people, and have high cognitive and aesthetic value. For example, the long narrative song "Escape from Marriage" reflects the Lisu people's marriage and love customs of "finger-pointing marriage" and "using cattle as betrothal", the social customs of escaping marriage to fight for freedom and love, the primitive beliefs of killing sheep to summon souls, beating dogs' heads to swear, and pouring blood wine to swear, as well as the spirit of solidarity among ethnic groups to interact and help each other, and the level of social productivity and production conditions of the Lisu people. With the passing of the older generation of singers, there are now few people who can sing the complete content of the Lisu Mu Gua historical songs and long narrative songs. If we do not rescue and excavate them in time and cultivate the younger generation of singers, Mu Gua will face the situation of no successors. "Bai Shi" and "You Ye" are the two most representative Lisu folk songs in Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. Bai Shi is widely spread in the Lisu areas of Lushui County and Lanping County. It is sung on ordinary days and festivals, celebrations of harvests, weddings and other festive occasions. The lyrics are extensive and the tunes are passionate and unrestrained. It is suitable for expressing inner enthusiasm and is deeply loved by the Lisu people. Bai Shi is mostly a collective duet between men and women, or it can be sung solo by one person for self-entertainment. The singing content is divided into two categories: "Duo Wo" and "Xi Wo". "Duo Wo" mainly sings traditional narrative poems, while "Xi Wo" is improvised according to the object of the song, and the main content is love and current affairs. The representative songs of Baishi include "Song of Bamboo Strings", "Song of Recalling Bitterness", "Tears of Orphans", etc. The annual "Zaotang Singing Competition" in Denggeng, Lushui County is a grand event of Baishi duet singing. Youye is mainly spread in the Lisu villages in Fugong County. According to the content and form of singing, it is divided into two categories: one is that middle-aged and elderly people sit around the fire pit and sing while drinking. The main content is to recall the sadness and suffering of the past. The tune is low, the speed is slow, and the melody is steady; the other type of tune is relaxed and lively. It is the main way for young men and women to express their feelings. It can be sung by men and women or by the same sex. The first type of Youye is now less sung, and the second type of Youye is still widely circulated. Common songs of Youye include "Hunting Song", "Whisper", "Chopping Wood Song", etc. Baishi and Youye are outstanding representatives of the oral literature and art of the Lisu people. After the creation of singers of successive generations, they have accumulated extremely rich singing content for a long time, covering almost all aspects of social life and folk activities. Baishi and Youye also created a variety of artistic expressions with national characteristics. For example, the sentence structure, rhythm and rhetoric characteristics of Lisu poetry are mainly reflected in this type of folk songs. Baishi and Youye also reflect the typical musical characteristics of Lisu folk songs. For example, the polyphonic singing method, vibrato singing method and the use of interpolation words in Lisu folk songs can be fully reflected in Baishi and Youye.
