Tongli meat swallows are a unique food craft in Fujian Province. It is a famous local snack in Fuzhou. "Taiping swallows" are made by pounding pork leg lean meat into salty meat paste, mixing it with potato starch, and grinding it into paper-thin slices. The meat filling is wrapped inside and served with broth to make a delicious snack. Because the shape of the package is the same as that of a flying swallow, it is named "flat meat swallows" and the skin is called swallow skin. In Fuzhou folks, flat meat swallows with peeled eggs become "Taiping swallows", which symbolizes "peace", "safety", "wealth" and "auspiciousness".
