"Three parts front stage, seven parts back stage" Xiapu puppet show, also known as thumb show, is a traditional Han drama with a long history. Puppet show relies entirely on the five fingers of the artist's hands to manipulate the puppets to shape the artistic images of Sheng, Dan, Jing, Mo, and Chou in traditional opera. The performance of puppet show is divided into front stage and back stage. The front stage is the stage part, where the audience can see the performance of the puppets on the stage. The back stage includes the actors and music performances, including gongs, drums, notes, cymbals, erhu, suona and other instruments. The back stage's background music, ventriloquism performances, and the coordination with the front stage's civil and military plots to perform fast and slow performances are the strength of puppet show. There is a saying in puppet show: "Three parts front stage, seven parts back stage" just shows that the back stage is the essence of puppet show.
