Erlangshan Flower Festival
Erlangshan Flower Festival "Hua'er" is a folk song created and shared by Han, Hui, Tibetan, Dongxiang, Baoan, Salar, Tu, Yugu, Mongolian and other ethnic groups in Gansu, Qinghai and Ningxia in northwest my country. It is named because the lyrics compare women to flowers. "Hua'er" is sung in Chinese, and the music is influenced by the traditional music of Qiang, Tibetan, Han, Tu and Muslim ethnic groups. It is an oral musical expression of the local people and has been sung in the folk for more than 500 years. The influential "Hua'er Festival" in northwest my country includes Lianhuashan Flower Festival, Songmingyan Flower Festival and Erlangshan Flower Festival. Minxian Flower Festival has been listed in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Gao Hong of the Ming Dynasty wrote in "Ancient Shanxingyin": "Green willows hang down silks and wild ponds, and farmers and village girls are busy plowing the fields. With a light whip, I go to the fragrant path and smell the intermittent flowers." It can be seen that the Erlangshan Flower Festival was formed at least in the Ming Dynasty. Erlangshan Flower Festival integrates the worship of Qiu Shen, the singing of flower, and the exchange of materials. In the long-term process of evolution, it has formed a multi-level folk custom phenomenon. Specifically, it has the following characteristics: the singing of flower is mainly in Minxian dialect, and the language used has a distinct regionality; extensive mass participation: every year on May 17, there are more than 100,000 people participating in the flower festival; the primitiveness of Qiu Shen worship; the secularity of praying to and entertaining gods; the musicality of flower singing; the literary nature of flower lyrics; the original ecology of flowers; the educational role of flowers. There are two tunes of "Taomin Flower" sung during the Erlangshan Flower Festival. The one with the largest distribution area (centered on the Erlangshan Flower Festival in the county seat) is "Aou Lian'er", also known as Nanlu School Flower. The melody of this flower is concise and simple in structure, with a free and relaxed rhythm, and is composed of two phrases, belonging to the six-tone Shang mode. When singing, falsetto is often used, and men and women sing in the same tune, with a sudden start, high-pitched and rough, melodious and graceful, and repetitive. The flowers that are spread in the five townships (towns) of Xijiang, Xiaozhai, Zhongzhai, Baozi, and Weixin to the north of the county seat and parts of the townships (towns) of Xizhai and Minshan in the northwest of the city are called "Lianglian'er". Because this melody drags and uses the word "ah" to start the tune, it is named "Ah Huaer", also known as Beilu Huaer. Its melody structure is rigorous and the rhythm is relatively regular. Since Min County has the reputation of being the "dry wharf" on the Long Mountains, the business flow in Min County is particularly active. Starting from May 12th every year, the material exchange that lasts for nearly 10 days has become another feature of the Huaer Fair. (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.)
