Guiyang Yao Song is a folk song among the Guoshan Yao, another branch of the Yao nationality. Guiyang County is located in the southwest of Chenzhou, Hunan Province. It is a famous cultural county with a long history and a thousand-year-old county. Guiyang Yao Song is a major feature of the local area. The Yao people in Guiyang are all Guoshan Yao, living in Huashan Yao Township and Yangliu Yao Township in Guiyang County, Hunan Province. The Yao people have lived in the mountains for generations. Among them, there is a unique Yao folk culture and art, Guiyang Yao Song. In production and labor, marriage and love between men and women, they all sing Yao songs to eliminate fatigue and express their inner feelings. In 2008, Guiyang Yao Song was identified as the second batch of provincial intangible cultural heritage list projects in Hunan Province. The Yao people in the mountains directly nurture the culture of the mountains. In their long-term labor, they use their own specific language and songs to express their emotions and enrich their spare time. Especially in major festivals and customs, they all express their voices by sitting in the singing hall and singing. This custom can be traced back to the 12th year of Emperor Daoguang's reign (1832), 174 years ago. According to the inscription, the local residents of Huangjia Village of Huashan Yao were surnamed Pan, some of whom moved from Jiangjunqi in Changning; the Pan surnamed Libai Village moved here from Dayuantou in Changning; the Huang surnamed moved here from Jiuyi Mountain in Ningyuan, some from Baijiaping in Ningyuan, and some were recruited here. Due to the influence of the specific living environment, they are all good at singing and dancing. Guiyang Yao songs are the cultural heritage of the Yao people created by the local Yao people in their long-term social life practice. They are rich in content and variety. According to statistics, there are about a thousand songs. The content of the songs includes hatred for the feudal rulers who oppressed and excluded the Yao people; and there are songs that suppress evil and promote good, and inspire fighting spirit. There are fresh, lively and passionate folk songs, such as "Singing in this mountain and singing in that mountain, folk songs are easy to sing but hard to sing, my sister is like a thrush, let's see which mountain you will end up in"; there are beautiful and lingering love songs, such as "The boat is built with nanmu wood and has two high ends, the man sits on the bow and the girl sits on the waist. As long as the two of them can sit firmly, they won't be afraid of the strong wind and waves." "Carrying a hoe to dig a road, digging a new road to wait for my brother to come, I have waited for my brother for three years, and if he didn't come back, the grass would be endless"; there are cheerful and festive songs to welcome the bride, such as "Tile copper is not as good as white copper and gold, white copper with patterns is better than gold, I tell my sister not to take off her clothes and swim across the sea, a life is worth a thousand gold"; there are cordial and enthusiastic blessing songs, such as "Tin bottles filled with wine fell in pairs, Kirin and lion guarded the door, the two stood in front of 0 and drank the wedding wine, and drank a lifetime of marriage. Tin bottles sifted wine in pairs, tile bottles sifted wine in pairs, the two stood in front of all the relatives and drank the wedding wine, and drank a lifetime of marriage"; there are joyful welcoming songs, such as "It is difficult for the dragon to walk and the tiger to arrive, it is difficult To abandon the carriage and come to Mei Village, when I arrived in Mei Township, there was no good tea and good wine for my husband, and no good flowers to accompany him”; there were lively and humorous drinking songs, such as “There is a glutinous rice cave in front of my mother’s (sister’s) house, and a river in front of my husband’s house. One pot of strong tea can hold three pots of water, and don’t complain about the excessive water when you go home. Good wine is filled, and it is fragrant at the beginning of the banquet and the end of the banquet. A cup of good wine is as good as a thousand cups, and good flowers make the heart happy”; there were tea songs and tobacco songs sung by men and women, such as “(male singing) It’s hard for me, it’s hard for me to hold the strong tea, hold it with both hands and receive it with one hand, the strong tea is blooming in my hand. (female singing) The tea seedlings are small, but thanks to my husband’s support, they are planted in rows, and they are watered in May and June, which is both labor-intensive and troublesome”. "(Male singing) The fragrance of sister's smoke, the fragrance of hundreds of caves in all directions. The smoke rises into the sky and the smoke rises into smoke seedlings. (Female singing) The fragrance of sister's smoke, planted on the edge of Qishan Qitou Qiling, planted at the foot of Qitou Qiling, the ugly smoke ruins the reputation of men"; there are also teasing, humorous and funny sitting songs, deep and sad sacrificial songs and labor production songs. After the founding of New China, the Yao people saw the light and lived a new life of freedom and happiness. During this period, in order to express their great love and gratitude for Chairman Mao and 0, and to sing about the good times, a group of new Yao songs were created. For example, the song "Yao People Love Chairman Mao" goes: "Mountains are connected to mountains from Baishuidong, and the mountains and rivers are full of smiles. All roads lead to Beijing. Yao people love Chairman Mao." The song "Chairman Mao is Good" goes: "Chairman Mao is good, Chairman Mao has liberated the people with great grace, and grains grow everywhere in Yao people's homes. Corn and millet are fragrant, and life is happy and carefree." There are also songs that sing about the happy life of Yao people, such as "Happy Life for Eternal Spring" which goes: "The mountain streams are clear and clear, and the Yao people sing happily. The construction of Yao Mountain is good every year, and the happy life is spring for eternity", etc. These are all new songs from the heart. From the perspective of the singing form of Yao songs, they are also very diverse and can be roughly divided into five categories: 1. When a person goes to the mountains to work, it is mainly solo singing, which is used to relieve boredom, happiness and fatigue. 2. When talking about love, duets are generally used. Sometimes they sing duets across the mountains, sometimes across the rivers, and you sing one song and I sing one song in turn while walking to express the passionate love of young men and women. 3. When everyone is happy together, they often sing in unison. 4. They sing while dancing the "Long Drum Dance". 5. Women often sit and sing when they get together at night. The singing methods are also divided into two categories: "barcong" (i.e. singing with high pitch) and "gancong" (i.e. singing with low pitch). Guiyang Guoshan Yao songs do not need to choose a specific time or place. They sing during hard work and marriage, so they do not have special utensils or props, but they have their own special clothing, which is divided into men's and women's clothing. 1. Women's clothing. (1) There are two types of headwear: Dingban, also called Dingjia, which is a pre-marriage headwear. The frame is made of bamboo strips, which are processed and dyed black and are convex. The frame is decorated with cloth, with black as the main color, and red and blue satin strips printed on the edges, and then decorated with small embroidered strips; there are also 4 pairs of silver bells on both ends of the frame, and 4 pairs of loose knots made of loose wool are hung. The back headwear is simpler. After lubricating all the hair with tung oil, comb it to the top of the head, then tightly coil it up and make a rectangular cone facing upward and forward. Finally, wrap it around the head with a black scarf embroidered with red, white and blue flowers. The scarf is also decorated with beads and silver bells. (2) Women's clothing: a black long-sleeved gown skirt that reaches the calf, with lace around the hem, plus a sleeveless vest that reaches the knee, with buttons on the chest, and embroidered lace on the collar and chest opening. The neck is decorated with a bright silk scarf, a crescent-shaped silver plate on the chest, 4 pairs of silver bells, and a belt with white, green and red embroidery around the waist. (3) The shoes are embroidered shoes (black base with red edges). 2. Men's clothing. (1) Headdress: All men wear a 7-foot scarf (mainly dark in color). (2) Men's clothing: mainly dark-colored casual clothes and trousers, and also vests for summer. A towel is worn around the neck to wipe sweat when working. Another theory is that it is a token of love given by a lover to express sincerity. An embroidered belt is tied around the waist with a waist knot tied beside the waist. (3) Shoes are handmade cloth shoes. In 2008, Guiyang Yao Song was identified as a project in the second batch of provincial intangible cultural heritage list of Hunan Province.
