Weishan, bordering Taojiang and Anhua, has high mountains and steep roads, and is foggy and humid all year round. The local tea has the effects of removing heat and relieving summer heat, soothing the liver and intestines, and refreshing the mind. In order to cope with this kind of weather, people have been accustomed to eating tea for many years. Pei Xiu is the donor of Miyin Temple. There is still an unknown story about Pei Xiu and Weishan tea. According to legend, during the reign of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, there was a bully named Zhang Zhong in Meishan, Anhua, who colluded with a group of local hooligans and thugs, occupied the mountain as king, robbed houses, and the people in this area could not live a peaceful life. When Pei Xiu, the governor of Tanzhou (now Changsha), learned about it, he led his troops to encircle and suppress it. It was the hot July at that time. Many soldiers who arrived here were not used to the local climate and fell ill, and more and more every day. Not to mention fighting, even walking was difficult. Pei Xiu was very anxious. On this day, he was so anxious that he went out of the tent to relax and came to Miyin Temple unconsciously. At that time, the Miyin Temple was very small, with only a few wooden monks' rooms and a main sacrificial room. He then placed incense and candles, and prayed to the Bodhisattva to show a good medicine swab to cure the soldiers. The abbot of the Miyin Temple was Monk Lingyou. Monk Lingyou was highly virtuous and had good medical skills. When he saw Pei Xiu praying to the Bodhisattva, he stepped forward and asked, "Where are you from and what disease do you have?" Pei Xiu told Lingyou about the matter. After listening, Lingyou put his hands together in front of his chest, chanted "Amitabha", and went into the house. After a while, he took out a package and handed it to Pei Xiu, saying, "General, take it to cure the soldiers!" Pei Xiu took a look and found peanuts, pumpkin seeds, corn, chestnuts, tea leaves, ginger, mung beans, etc. He was very surprised. He thought, this is not medicine. Lingyou told Pei Xiu: "Put these things in a pot and fry them. Then put them in a mortar and pound them with a stick of a fragrant tree in the mountain. Then boil the glutinous rice and pour it in. Add some salt and give it to the soldiers to drink. Their illness will be cured." Pei Xiu was skeptical, but he had no other choice but to do as Lingyou said. After the soldiers ate these things, their illness improved a little in less than a few days. Pei Xiu was overjoyed and rested for another three days. The soldiers became strong and energetic. So Pei Xiu led the soldiers and fought a big battle with Zhang Zhong in a place called Jielong not far from Weishan. The gangsters fled everywhere and Zhang Zhong was captured alive. Pei Xiu has been connected with Weishan since then. Later, Pei Xiu petitioned the court to build a temple here. Emperor Xuanzong of Tang, Li Chen, personally wrote the name "Miyin Zen Temple" on the door plaque, and sent his son Pei Wende to Weishan Miyin Temple to become a monk and study Taoism. In his later years, he retired to the Weishan Zuta, often went to Miyin Temple to meditate and practice Zen, and ate Weishan Leicha as a vegetarian meal. He lived to the age of 74. Weishan Leicha was also promoted and became famous because of Pei Xiu. In June 2014, the Weishan Leicha production technique was included in the Changsha Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection List because of its unique historical and cultural value and social and economic value.
