Zigui is a place of beautiful mountains and rivers, outstanding people and rich natural resources. It is not only the hometown of Chinese navel oranges, but also the hometown of folk songs and dances. The world cultural celebrity Qu Yuan was born here. Zigui's citrus is well-known, Zigui's culture has a long history, and Zigui's flower drum dance also has a profound cultural heritage. In the 1970s, Maoping Jiandong Flower Drum was listed as a special art of "seven drums and one song" in Yichang. In 1988, it was compiled into the "Hubei Folk Dance Collection" by the Hubei Dancers Association, and in 1981 it was included in the "Chinese Opera and Quyi Dictionary". This proves that Zigui Flower Drum not only has a high value of artistic collection, but also has a high reference value for future generations to understand Zigui folk art, promote Zigui's Qu Yuan culture, and create Zigui's characteristic art masterpieces. In recent years, under the direct leadership of the superior competent department, Zigui County Cultural Center has worked with our county's literary and artistic creation studio to organize and choreograph the Jiandong Flower Drum, Ground Flower Drum, Flower Drum Dance, and Sanlv Flower Drum Dance, which have strong Zigui characteristics, into a relatively scientific and complete set of square dances. The music is pleasant to the ears, the dance is graceful and smooth, the emotions are warm, and the people are very involved. Once you hear and see it, you will be eager to try it. From music to dance, it fully demonstrates the unique charm of Zigui Flower Drum Dance. Zigui folk flower drum dance has a very long history, and it is still popular among the people. Sanlv, the hometown of the great patriotic poet Qu Yuan, has been popular since ancient times with an ancient dance called "Sanlv Flower Drum Dance". The dance is performed by two people, a female role and a clown role, and many people play percussion. Its performance form is unique: performers hold folding fans and red handkerchiefs, wear bright costumes and unique exquisite headdresses, the female roles wear embroidered shoes, and the clown roles wear linen straw shoes, singing and dancing, with lines in between. Every fifth day of the fifth lunar month to commemorate the great patriotic poet Qu Yuan, they hold a lantern festival in front of Qu Yuan Temple and perform the earthy and fragrant flower drum. Since then, every festival, or when the world is peaceful, the crops are abundant, a new house is completed, or the elderly celebrate their birthdays, the people have spontaneously organized lantern teams to perform in towns, villages, rice fields, halls, etc. The new "Zigui Flower Drum Dance" is developed from the traditional flower drum, mainly based on Jiandong flower drum, Sanlv flower drum, jumping flower drum, etc., with the long singing of "big gong tune" of flower drum as the keynote, with small gong tune, Duanyang tune, Xinyang tune and other tunes and gong and drum points as the main music, with the characteristic movements of flower drum such as Juezi around flower step, good luck all the way, Danfeng Chaoyang, Longdeng step as the main dance vocabulary, with the basic core of the dance being the unrestrained, interesting, affectionate, amusing, and humorous dance postures. In terms of performance, the right hand holds a fan, the left hand holds a silk, and the couple dances. The mood is festive, warm and cheerful. "Zigui Flower Drum Dance" has been highly valued by leaders at all levels and is favored by the general public. In order to support Zigui's craft culture, promote Zigui's national culture, and promote "Zigui Flower Drum Dance", we have done a lot of fruitful work. The County Culture and Tourism Bureau and the County Women's Federation have held two consecutive "GuoShou Cup" Flower Drum Dance Competitions, with nearly 30 teams and more than 400 people participating, making substantial progress in the promotion of "Zigui Flower Drum Dance"; in September 2002, the 196-member Zigui Flower Drum Dance performance team participated in the opening ceremony of the "Yichang Three Gorges International Tourism Festival" and showed their style and became a highlight of the opening ceremony. Now, "Zigui Flower Drum Dance" has been registered, but it still needs to be further improved. We firmly believe that with the strong support of our superiors, we will continue to work hard to make "Zigui Flower Drum Dance" go beyond the gorge, beyond Yichang, and into the world.
