Sanbanggu is one of the types of folk art of the Han nationality and the Tujia people in Wuling Mountain. Sanbanggu is a form of folk art that is widely spread in Youyang, Chongqing, Longshan County, Yongshun County, Xiangxi, Hunan, Zhangjiajie, Mianyang, Tianmen, Hubei, and Enshi Prefecture in southwestern Hubei, etc. Sanbanggu originated from the three-stick drum in the Tang Dynasty. Shen Defu, a Ming Dynasty scholar, recorded the performance of Sanbanggu during the Wanli period in "Guqu Zayan". In the late Qing Dynasty, it merged with Fengyang Huagu and became more and more popular. In order to make a living, people in Mianyang and Tianmen left their homes and wandered around the world, to Central Europe and Southeast Asia. Wherever they went, they sang. They were called "Chinese gypsies". Except for the Northeast, its traces can be found all over the country, and it has been spread to dozens of countries such as Britain, France, Italy, Singapore, Malaysia, etc. with artists. The techniques of playing the Sanbang drum include single-cross flower, chopping four doors, twisting flower, weaving cloth, single-drum flower, double-drum flower, sparrow drilling bamboo and wood, "white snake spitting flying sword", "black dragon stirring water", "gold hanging gourd" and so on. Historical origin Sanbang drum appeared in the Tang Dynasty, when it was called three-battle drum. It was once widely popular. Sanbang drum is named after throwing three sticks and beating gongs and drums. It is a form of cultural and sports activities that can be seen everywhere in Tujia mountain villages, which combines percussion instruments, oral literature and performance skills. Sanbang drum is popular in Tianmen, Mianyang and other places in Hubei Province. It originated from the "three-stick drum" in the Tang Dynasty and was once widely popular. It is named for throwing and playing three special drumsticks to beat the drum and accompany singing. "Gu Qu Za Yan" by Shen Defu of the Ming Dynasty recorded: "There have always been women in Wu who beat three-stick drums to beg for money. I saw it when I was young. "It shows that this kind of music existed in the Ming Dynasty, and later flowed into Hubei and became popular in Jingling (today's Menshi). In the late Qing Dynasty, it merged with Fengyang Huagu and became more and more popular, and spread to Mianyang, Tianmen, Honghu, Qianjiang, Jingshan, Macheng, Shashi, Yichang, Enshi and other places in Hubei; and spread to Hunan, Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Jiangxi, Henan, Hebei, Shandong, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Tibet and other provinces and regions. Sanbanggu also spread to Britain, France, Italy, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Pakistan and other countries. The stick techniques of Sanbang drum are derived from life. The four sets of stick techniques of "Spring Ploughing", "Harvesting", "Celebrating the Harvest" and "New Year's Festival" have a strong sense of life. Playing Sanbang drum requires strong skills. When performing, you need to concentrate highly, use appropriate strength, be consistent, and cooperate with the singer tacitly. Every Spring Festival, the artists go from village to village to pay New Year's greetings, regardless of their wealth. When they meet a particularly poor fishing family, the performers will pass on the gifts given by other families, hoping that Everyone is happy during the festival. In the Honghu area of Mianyang, the Sanbang drum is quite popular, so there are many artists. Around 1818, there was a family in Honghu, Mianyang whose three daughters were all excellent Sanbang drum artists. They formed a troupe, and wherever they went, the crowds gathered to watch often "looked up and stretched their necks, and surrounded the walls." However, the Honghu area was plagued by water shortages, which led to the people's livelihood. In order to make a living, people carried Sanbang drums and wandered around. Sanbang drum became a way for the people of Honghu to express their thoughts and a weapon in their hands. Since 1949 After the flood, water conservancy was developed, and the people of Honghu fled from famine and wandering became a thing of the past. The Sanbang drum plays the "New Sanbang Drum" of the people of Honghu. Listening to the new song of leaping fish, fat crabs, green lotus and white lotus roots, one can feel the confidence and determination of the people of Honghu to achieve a well-off life. Performance of Quyi The Sanbang drum in Quyi is also called Huazhao drum. The drum played by the artist is not big, about three inches high and two feet wide.
