"Tiao San Gu" is one of the first batch of intangible cultural heritage projects announced by Hubei Province. It is mainly spread in Shishou City and Jiangling County in our city. Tiao San Gu evolved from the folk funeral custom "Tiao Sang Gu". According to the "Changle County Chronicles" during the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty and the "Jiangling Chronicles" during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, Tiao San Gu has been spread in Shishou area for more than 200 years. The main activities and distribution areas of Tiao San Gu are Shishou, Jiangling, Gong'an, Songzi, Huarong, Anxiang, Nanxian and other counties (cities) on the border of Hunan and Hubei. Tiao San Gu sung for the deceased is called "filial piety drum", sung for the elderly is called "longevity drum", and sung on various festive occasions is called "joy drum". Tiao Sang, Tiao Shou, and Tiao Xi are called "three jumps", and because there are three singers, three percussion instruments, and each paragraph of lyrics is "three sentences", taking the homophony of "sang" and "three", it was named "Tiao San Gu" in the 1950s. Three-drum dance is usually performed by three people. A table and a stool are placed on the stage or on the ground. One person sits and plays the drums to help out, while the other two hold bamboo chopsticks and sing with single cymbals. The performance features are "chopsticks in the right hand and cymbals in the left hand, T-shaped feet on the upper arm, three and a half steps forward, never leaving the corner of the table, back to back, two people facing each other with a smile, one singing and the other singing, the drums keep beating and the dance never stops." Its repertoire is rich and colorful, with a wide range of themes. Now Shishou City has collected and sorted out nearly 300 pieces of songs, and Jiangling County has collected more than 300 pieces. It can be roughly divided into five categories: filial piety songs, birthday songs, song requests, original works, and dingtouzi. The lyrics of three-drum dance are divided into the first three sentences and the last four sentences. The former is the beginning of the three sentences, and the latter is the ending sentence. "Three sentences start, four sentences end, and seven sentences are connected to form a three-drum song." The accompaniment instrumental music consists of drums, cymbals, and chopsticks. There is a cloth about 1 meter long and 25 centimeters wide on the cymbals, which is either red or green, commonly known as the "white ring", which is used to coordinate the artist's dance movements. There are five main types of musical singing styles: Kaqiziju, Yanghehe, Huandiao, Sanjuban, and Shizidiao. They were selected into the three major collections of "Chinese Folk Songs Collection", "Chinese Quyi Music Collection", and "Chinese Dance Music Collection" respectively. In recent years, Tiaosangu has been constantly on various stages, and it officially appeared on the CCTV screen on the 50th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Its provincial representative inheritor is Zhao Zhizhong. Information source: Jingzhou City Art Museum Information source: Jingzhou City Art Museum
