The Miao Huashan Festival is the grandest traditional festival of the Miao people, and is spread in all Miao settlements in Yunnan Province. Every year from the third to the seventh day of the first lunar month, the Miao people gather together to celebrate the Huashan Festival. The Miao Huashan Festival is also known as "picking flowers on the mountain". The whole activity has four procedures: setting up poles, offering sacrifices to poles, making noises about poles, and collecting poles. Each procedure has specific content. The Miao Huashan Festival is a festival that remembers ancestors, praises heroes, gathers national spirit, and is full of happiness and joy. It carries many ancient cultural information and original memories of the Miao people. It is an important carrier for protecting and inheriting the traditional culture of the Miao people, and plays a role in gathering people's hearts, connecting national feelings, enhancing national unity, and maintaining social stability. The Miao Huashan Festival was included in the fourth batch of national intangible cultural heritage protection list in 2014.
