Tangxi in Xiping County is the hometown of iron smelting and sword-making culture in China. High-end Tangxi swords need to go through more than 600 processes such as creativity, forging, grinding, heat treatment, and carving to be completed. In 2014, the Tangxi sword forging technique was included in the fourth batch of national intangible cultural heritage list. On the occasion of the 12th China Cultural Heritage Day (the second Saturday of June every year), the reporter walked into the Tangxi Sword Factory in Xiping County and witnessed the national intangible cultural heritage Tangxi sword forging technique. The Tangxi sword forging technique in Xiping County began in the Western Zhou Dynasty, more than 2,700 years ago. Tangxi swords are endowed with the humanistic spirit of justice, morality, authority, integrity, and promoting good and eliminating evil, and have multiple values such as historical relics, cultural collections, and artistic aesthetics. With the development and progress of the times, Tangxi sword, as the first of the nine famous swords in China, has crossed from the distant cold weapon era to the hall of art. As the country explores and protects traditional crafts, Tangxi sword forging skills were officially included in the national intangible cultural heritage protection list in 2014.
