Liuzi Opera is an ancient opera of the string system, popular in Shandong, Henan, northern Jiangsu, southern Hebei, and northern Anhui. Qingfeng Liuzi Opera, also known as "Bai (North) Tune", "Liuzi Tune", and "Xianzi Opera", is a local vocal opera developed from the northern tune string tune of the Yuan and Ming dynasties, and is mainly circulated in Qingfeng, Henan. During the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, court opera was introduced to Qingfeng County, and the singing music was mostly in the form of "North-South Combination". It was combined with local popular folk songs such as "Liuzi", "Huangying'er", "Shanpoyang", "Locking Nanzhi", and "Shuahaier", and the tune was set with "Liuzi", gradually forming Liuzi Opera. This new opera has both the bold and rough style of northern opera and the euphemistic and delicate characteristics of southern opera. During the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, Liuzi Opera troupes were spread throughout the vast cities and towns of Qingfeng and Puyang, and there were also Liuzi Opera performances in the neighboring areas of Hebei, Shandong and Anhui. Liuzi Opera has a complete range of performances, and its vocal styles belong to the qupai style. There are more than 300 qupai in total, which are divided into two categories: main style and guest style. The main style is the string style, also known as the "Laluo style", which mostly comes from the string, with few words and long melody. Each song consists of three parts: the introduction, the main song and the ending. The guest style includes Kunqiang, Yiyang, Luantan, etc., which absorb and integrate the qupai of other vocal styles. There are five major sets: "Yellow Oriole", "Zhuyunfei", "Locking Nanzhi", "Shanpoyang" and "Wawa". Each qupai has several singing methods, including the standard and variant styles.
