Yongxiu Yang's cotton-spinning technique (third provincial level) Cotton-spinning, also known as cotton-spinning, cotton-spinning, and cotton-wool-spinning, is a traditional craft for making a living. This industry existed in my country as early as the Song and Yuan Dynasties. Cotton-spinning masters are commonly known as cotton-spinning craftsmen. The tools used by cotton-spinning craftsmen are very simple, mainly wooden slingshots (with a string made of cow tendons on it), wooden mallets, shovel heads, and grinding discs. According to Wang Zhen's "Agricultural Books, Agricultural Tools, and Cotton-wool Doors" in the Yuan Dynasty, the slingshots used for cotton-spinning at that time were made of bamboo, about four feet long, with rope strings tightened at both ends, and the bow was used to play the lint. Yang's cotton-spinning has great potential in urban and rural markets, especially in rural areas. It is a necessity for people to keep warm in winter. The cotton-wool that is manually popped out is made of natural materials, is environmentally friendly, and can be renovated and used after multiple repetitions, saving resources. At the same time, it provides good artistic creation materials for music and dance, can enrich the performance forms of stage art, and has a high artistic appreciation effect and ideological appeal. For example, in the 1980s, the Jiangxi Provincial Song and Dance Troupe visited Nanchang and Yongxiu Makou Huali Yangcun to collect folk songs and choreographed the "Flower Dance". At the same time, the Jiujiang City Song and Dance Troupe came to Yongxiu Makou to collect folk songs, and the dance "The Sound of Bow and String" choreographed by Zhang Hongmin won an award at the provincial song and dance festival.
